Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business president Don Mattrick has moved on from the company, to take the role as CEO at Zynga, a leader in social and casual games.
This comes soon after the Xbox One reveal and the debacle with used games, though as far as we know the reasons for the move aren’t due to that; Mattrick wished to move back to the Bay area and people move on in this industry all the time.
As usual, the game media buys into the PR propaganda. Personally, I have a hard time believing this was not tied to the Xbox One debacle.
Especially since he ended up at Zynga.
What do you think?

I agree. It totally looks like Microsoft quietly forced him out and made it look like a mutual departure. Xbox one has been a fiasco from a pr standpoint and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more "shifts" at the big M.

Mattrick did have a habit of not knowing when to STFU, not surprised he's gone.

This had nothing to do with the disaster at E3 or all the crow they ate with the DRM reversal.
Nope... nothing at all.

To me it is telling that they are not replacing him and that his underlings now report directly to Steve Ballmer. It makes me wonder how much independence the Xbox division initially had.

Zynga are robots with half the capacity of a broken E-Machine desktop. I'm sure Mattrick will poison them and then wind up elsewhere.
