Were Titan Falls sales ultimately disapointing? (Forbes Article)

Postby Astrosmasher1 » May 11th, 2014, 11:52 pm

Segat I bet it has already sold more than there are copies of the Wii U.  I do not like the online mode only.  That is the reason I have not bought it.
Though all my pals say it is a really good game.
Wii U has sold 6.2 million thus far.

Across Xbox One, 360 and PC, Titanfall sales are estimated around 3 million, though that is supposition. We may not have hard numbers on this game, not ever. But given the install base (fairly active) of 360, the consistent audience of PC, and the captive audience of Xbox One - (new console, need big new game) this high profile game may have underperformed quite drastically.

Never has the media hyped the Wii U at all, but the sure fell all over themselves promoting Titanfall. The point is - did the audience respond? Is this another trouble sign for consoles? Did the online only gameplay turn people away?

Well let us give it say 2 years and I think that 3 million for half a year will equal 6 million a year.  It will probably clear no more than about 9 million units across all platforms.  This is probably.

For me I hope Titanfall is a total failure as I really dislike COD's online game.  So having an advanced form of it does not fill me with joy.   The online play was a complete turn off for me.

I don't care if it's online only. It's easily one of the best multiplayer shooters I've ever played. The only people complaining are the Sony and Nintendo elitists. It's a fantastic shooter and if you don't like it, don't buy it. But as for me, I will enjoy it for months probably. I can't stress enough why everyone should give it a try.

I don't really want to see Titanfall fail, it's actually a getaway from the redundant, hardly changing COD formula, and it beats dealing with the Server woes on Halo 4, no disrespects to Halo (not meant in a personal, ragey tone).

Cannot see myself getting into Titanfall though, my disconnect between on-foot and large scale EVA is as bad as my sniping. I look forward to Halo 2 Anniversary and putting collecting money aside for a potential Xbox One bundle.

When target was running buy two games get one free I thought about getting Titanfall but passed because its online only.  I'm sure I'm not the only one that didn't buy for that very reason.

I would be interested in checking this out on my 360 since I heard that it was a very good port. HOWEVER, I refuse to pay more than $20 for a game that is 'online only,' and I certainly will not pay for an Xbox Live Gold subscription just to play this one game!
