The growing generation gap???

Postby HardcoreSadism1 » July 14th, 2014, 6:17 pm

Licensed half-footed garbage is one of the hundreds of causes behind the videogame crash of the 80's... So it's bad throughout history.

I guess you're going to be miffed if I say they're awful?

Another thing... It isn't a crisis if someones opinion differs.
I have to agree with Vexer, those are some pretty big generalizations. I mean, if you're going to say that kids enjoy crap, then teenagers also enjoy crap, based on how popular the godawful Blood On The Dance Floor is with that demographic, and adults also enjoy crap. After all, it's not kids that are buying Nickelback's awful albums or selling out their awful shows.

Plus, there were many, many licensed crap games during the 16 Bit Era, and that's my favorite era of all time. I hope I don't come off as a jerk, but you can't say that games, for example, got objectively worse from 1995-2005, as that's completely subjective. Some would tell you that's their favorite time for gaming. Hell, the 5th and 6th Generations are my 2nd and 3rd favorite generations respectively.
Okay, I'll admit that it's incorrect to say that games were objectively worse from 1995-2005. 1995-1996 and 2005-2006 were pretty god-awful though. 1997-2001 brought the Dreamcast, great PS1 classics, some of the best (and best-looking) N64 games, etc. But you have to admit: 1995-1996 were largely represented by Sony, Sega, and Nintendo trying to forget 2D games ever existed in favor of horrible-looking polygonal graphics and buggy gameplay (exception: Super Mario 64 is great fun despite looking pretty bad and being astonishingly bug-ridden).

2005 and 2006 were the years that saw a new console generation launch when it had no business to do so. The PS2 install base was unprecedentedly massive and the Gamecube and Xbox were far from tapped out. It really took two full years from the PS3 and Xbox 360 launches for the generation to find itself with titles like MGS4 and Mass Effect, respectively.

P.S.: Nickelback is the worst band that has ever existed.

I thought 2005-2006 were pretty good years, 1995-1996 wasn't the best period, but hardly worst either.

I think it's incredibly silly and nonsensical to say a new console had "no business" to launch, the 360 and Xbox both had some great games during that period like: BLACK, Rainbow Six: Critical Hour, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Perfect Dark Zero, Gears Of War, Crackdown, Saints Row, Advent Rising, Battlefield 2, Cold Fear, Cold War, Crime Life: Gang Wars, Dead To Rights 2, Doom 3, GTA: San Andreas, Fatal Frame 2, Half Life 2, Mercenaries, NARC, OddWorld: Stranger's Wrath, Obscure, Psi-Ops, The Punisher, Serious Sam 2, Rainbow Six: Lockdown, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Driver: Parallel Lines, Hitman: Blood Money, Final Fight: Streetwise, Just Cause, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Scarface: The World Is Yours, Condemned: Criminal Origins, Dead Rising, F.E.A.R., Rainbow Six Vegas, Tomb Raider: Legend, and many more.

Nickelback are FAR from the worst band that has ever existed, i'm guessing you've never heard Justin Bieber, Maroon 5 or One Direction, I dare you listen to them and tell me that Nickelback is worse.

Okay.

Nickelback is worse.

They're all generic manufactured watered-down versions of whatever genre they belong to.

Now get off the topic, this isn't about Nickelback.

Well, as for 2005-2006, I think those were both great years, but 2005 was far from the best year of the 6th Gen, and I think 2007 is when the 7th Gen truly hit it's stride. Still, fantastic games like Wii Sports, The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Kart DS, and New Super Mario Bros. were released during that time period.

And Blood On The Dance Floor is worse than Nickelback, Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Maroon 5 combined. Worst band ever, IMO.
