If you could only play one genre of game...

Postby DaHeckIzDat1 » September 7th, 2014, 2:07 pm

If you could only play one genre of video game for the rest of your life, what would it be? Personally, I'd choose rpgs since, as I've said before, story is often the main reason I play a game. If I had to be more specific, I would choose jrpgs over western ones.

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, it would be the racing game genre.

I would choose FPS in a heartbeat(or if you lump third and first-person shooters together as "shooters", then I would choose that).

Tough one as I have a very varied game library I only tend to get a couple of games per genre, per system.
I could happily play the Metal Gear series forever so I'm going for the stealth action genre.

RPGs. They're pretty much all I play anyway.

Same as you--mainly for reasons of replayability and depth. If I were forced to pick any other genre, I would probably just quit playing games.

This one is tough because I play pretty much every genre... I would probably go with platformers since they are probably my preferred genre when I'm playing a game by myself.

STG (short for Shooting Game) genre for me; plenty of great, well designed games by many great companies such as Konami, Taito, Toaplan, Cave, Treasure, G.Rev, Irem, etc.. Comes in many varieties such as vertical, horizontal, and on-rails. Finally, they simple to control, but very tough to master.

Honorable Mentions:

Action-Platformer
Pinball
Puzzle
Fighting
RPG

I'd pick the RTS genre (not turn-based, but real-time strategy). I'm addicted to those kind of games. Strangely, platform games are a closed second...
