Wii U DS Player
No it's not out so don't get too excited. I did a google search to see if any news was out. Nope, not much there either. Sorry. I did come across a petition to Nintendo from a site called change.org. I signed the petition and he sent me an email thanking me and asked for me to spread the good word on Facebook. I'm not much for Facebook, but I thought I'd share the idea with all of you. Sorry I don't have a link. I'm nit sure how secure all that stuff is & didn't want to bring any virus stuff to this forum. If this interests you then I'm sure you'll be able to find the petition through a google search. For me this is a BIG deal. I'm waiting to buy a wii u & a DS player would seal the deal for me

Wii U DS Player
When I saw headlines about a 'New 3DS' a few weeks back, I was hoping it was going to incorporate a scaler and a video out port. No such luck. ![Frown - :( [frown]](/images/boards/smilies/frown.gif)

I'd love to see a 3DS Player that interfaced with the Wii U via USB, utilized the Wii U's gamepad touch screen, and provided a variety of screen options (You'd want the option to stack both screens in Yoshi's Island DS on your tv, providing a perspective similar to a vertically oriented arcade game, for instance for why options are so key).
Doesn't appear like a tv solution will be forthcoming this generation. But perhaps this next gen hardware, often speculated about as being a console/handheld hybrid, will be backwards compatible with the DS/3DS line by going with ARM processors. Then just maybe we'll get our tv out option for DS/3DS games.
In the meantime, Nintendo has announced DS downloads for the Wii U Virtual Console. And if they follow the trend set by N64 downloads on the GCN/Wii, they will render in HD (As N64 downloads rendered in 480p on those two systems instead of at their original resolution). As seen by this homebrew DS emulator rendering the game in HD, a quality DS game like Mario Kart can look very nice on a large screen when the constraints of its original resolution are lifted.

A 3DS Player with real 3DS guts inside would only be upscaling. So the Virtual Console route isn't necessarily going to be all bad.
