I've said it before Gentlegamer, but man do some of you need to meet a better class of women.  In 2004 my wife was wearing Yoshi shirts and racing me to the Gamecube for Animal Crossing.  Who was calling you a loser?  That whole theory lies on the false premise that every girl was stupid until 2006.
Another lame and pointless meme that dosen't actually add anything to the discussion, hooray.
You haven't added anything to the discussion, just complaining about how I'm flamebaiting or something.

The meme is spot on by the way.

I was the one who originally brought up this topic, so i thought I'd reply.

I don't know much about Anita as a person.  However, I have watched several of her women in gaming video, and I tend to agree with a lot of what she says.  Video games need to do far more to attract women, and need far less juvinile nonsense.  Does every God of War game need that orgy minigame?  I don't think so. And it seems to detract from the storyline of an angry man seeking revenge for being tricked into murdering his family anyways.  Did Red Dead Redemption need an achievement for tieing up a women and having a train run her over?  Did it need that level where you "retrieve" women so the army could have their way with them?  I don't think so. And the problem is, both these games are fantastic, and these issues detract from their overall quality.  You can go through the history of gaming, and these problems appear over and over again. They stop gaming from being taken seriously. And I'm glad Anita pointed out both of these things in her videos.

I also look at my rack of video games, and at least 80% of the protaganists are males, usually white males.  White males have become the "default", to the point we don't realize it.   Yes there are a few token strong women video game heroes, but they are just that, tokens.  This is one of the problems.  This is largely because men create video games, but sexist attitudes about the STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) fields stop women from entering these fields.  To be fair, this is a larger societal issue, that isn't just about video games.  There are critics like Anita in other fields, but I'm glad Anita is around for videogames, even if I disagree with her on some points.

Like I said before, she can go along way by simply opening up lines of communications. She claims its all because of the threats she receives, but all internet personalities receive these threats. The anonymity of the internet makes it easy for any idiot to send threats to anyone online for any reason. However, that's no excuse to broadbrush entire segments because of the actions of a few morons.
For example, here's a male comedian on youtube reading his hate mail including death threats.  He didn't disable his comments. Women aren't the only ones who get this crap online. (Warning, VERY profane.)

So while I believe Anita has many good points, I think she broad brushes the gaming community way too much, which may actually play into the professional victimhood people are claiming she engages in.  However, outside of Anita's characteristics, the points she has brought up are points the gaming industries has needed to address for decades. I would like to see more Samus Aran's in gaming and less "Freckle b***tches" (from Saints Row).

pacguy19-The meme is absolute nonsense, you can't just lump all women complaining about stereotypes in games into the same category, some of the complaints are legitimate whether you want to admit it or not.

The way some people on here complain about women, I sure hope they don't treat the women in their own lives(if there are any) the same way.

I remember when getting upset over videogames involved Mature ratings. Now it's an episode of "The View". This is nothing to be proud of, Gaming Media.

*cue the hipster whistling music in the background*

Man we picked up one heck of a new habit after dropping the last eh?

There's is not a hipster topic, it's just common sense, if you can't see that then I feel sorry for you.

What does being proud have to do with anything?  If anything, the misogynist responses from those wackjobs are nothing to be proud of.

Do I really need to describe what humor is to you? Comedians derive humor from exaggeration and lumping people in with each other. Memes exist to be funny, and nothing would be funny if we had to put disclaimers that not everyone is like this.

Oh and I see woman comedians lumping all men together (because again that's what makes it funny) so no.

Well first, just because you like something doesn't mean you can't complain about it, that's crap. And second, who's complaining about women?

Folks, you've stated your opinions.  All great stuff.  However, please hold off on calling others ignorant, naive, or children.  Let's continue to have a civil discussion.

Thanks,
Bud

Pacguy19- Do I really need to describe to you that I know damn well what humor and simply do not find memes funny or clever?  I don't really "get" memes to be honest and I think it's really lazy when someone just posts a meme to illustrate their point rather then using actual words of their own.

Male comedians also lump all women together, what's your point?
