Should review scores be abolished?

Postby Vexer1 » October 16th, 2014, 2:44 pm

Who said anything about reading 20 reviews?[confused]  I meant like reading one or two.

I actually think getting rid of review scores will make it more likely for people to discover a game they might not have otherwise, as I think some people avoid hidden gems because they don't get a high enough score on Metacritic.

I've always found review scores to be a waste of time, as half the time it feels like the score and the review itself don't match up at all, which only increases confusion for people trying to use the review as a basis on whether or not to get a game.

Also I think comparing review scores to resumes doesn't make any sense.

Totalbiscuit recently posted a video on game reviews and in the last 10 minutes or so he makes some very good points about why scores and Metacritic are not very useful.
