While I want this to be successful, I think it will flop. If you want to make a successful retro console that uses carts, why not reproduce an existing system that was well received back in the day? Look at the Sega Flashbacks. I see something like that being successful, but an unknown new system with unknown games..?

After failing at both Kickstarter and Indiegogo, the Retro VGS is back. This time it's being funded by Coleco! They changed its name to the Coleco Chameleon.
http://www.heypoorplayer.com/2015/12/17 ... chameleon/How about that? Not only is there going to be a new cartridge-based console on the market but it's a brand new Coleco system. How cool is that?

I can't wait until you-know-who makes the use of recycled Jaguar shells into anything more than recycling assets.
Coleco is a name I can trust despite their checkered history, and it's effective branding!

I think it's cool, and I'll buy one for collectors sake, but still, it won't succeed. It's SUCH a niche market.....retro gaming isn't niche, but the amount of people willing to buy a new console for retro style gaming is small.

Interesting news. The old Coleco is gone of course, with Hasbro buying up what was left in the late 1980s. This is another company that bought the name. The At Games Coleco Flashback might show what games they still have rights too and might come pre-installed as they mention playing classic games.
So how different will this really be from an Ouya? Guess we will know more in February.

Or the mighty Game Stick. I had it on for the first time in months and it is a pile of trash. That controller is just atrocious. Yeah I still play it... or maybe grin and bear it is more like the case.
I will wait and see if it is going to be any good.

Is it still supposed to have the field programmable gate array? Isn't that supposed to make it possibly compatible with all the old cartridge systems with an appropriate cartridge slot adapter? That was the big deal about the retro vgs was compatibility with hardware emulation rather than in software.
Still tough to see this getting any exclusive games that aren't available cheaper on other systems.

Glad to hear this thing has new life. I would buy it.
I think price point is really important. They need to keep the systems under $100 and the games under $20. That way it looks like they're not trying to compete with the big boys.

Yeah, the VGS crowdfunding campaign was an absolute disaster in all regards, so here's hoping it'll turn around.

Yeah I like the look of it... it looks absolutely fabulous. It is a console you would just sitting in your front room for people to go wow ... what is that?
