Nostalgia and art design is going to score big points with me, hopefully the game is fun to play as well. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece just plain old fun.

Just keep Michael Bay away !

Wow, Microsoft really impressed me in their press conference, the hololens could be neat, but what truly blew my mind was the announcement of backwards compatibility for 360 games on Xbox One, that's pretty amazing and gives Microsoft a big advantage over Sony(if they don't have similar plans for PS3 titles anyways). Also really looking forward to Gears 4.

That is actually pretty cool that Microsoft is doing that. According to the article I read it said they would have it work with 100 or so Xbox 360 titles to start. That isn't too bad. I wish it was full backwards compatibility but I can understand why they did it this way. It's much easier to download a 360 emulator to the console than actually build in backwards compatibility (plus all the people who already bought an Xbox One).

This is great, and certainly a plus to buying an Xbox One. I do wonder though about the timing. It does seem like MS could have done this at launch, and are doing it now to claw back the lost ground to Sony. After all, if the Xbox One had promised even being 'mostly' compatible with your 360 games, wouldn't gamers have had even more reason to trade in their 360s to buy the Xbox One?

Maybe I'm just a jaded basically ex-gamer at this point, but I saw little exciting from the pressers so far.

A lot of 4's, 5's, and 6's dropped around in Microsoft's press conference along with excitement about playing older games either in remasters, backwards compatability, or compilations. I understand that's basically the lay of the land at this point, but I've never really been interested in the horde of first or third person shooters they've relied on and this is no different. The backwards compatability is always welcome to help those upgrade that want to, but it's been a year and a half at this point - isn't it a little late in the game to get this going?

The Rare compilation seems nice, but honestly I feel some of those games have not aged well at all, mainly the N64 ones. This from someone who bought several of their N64 games but I've never really said "you know what I really want to go back and play 20 FPS Perfect Dark with it's goofy plotline, Conker with some 2000 era references with toilet humor thrown in, or collectathon platformers." I would end up playing Blast Corps, Battletoads, or RC Pro Am all the time off of it and not much else. My other favorite games they've made are actually the ones they don't have the rights to: Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong Racing, and Goldneeye.

With EA, I see a lot of the usual suspects. I'm disappointed they aren't showing of a new boxing game or something along those lines, it looks like the typical sequels, and a lot of emphasis on Star Wars - which I'm not interested in. I know they're working on UFC 2, but I guess it's a bit too early to show off, maybe next year. A lot of the usual IP's, nothing original, no callbacks to older 16-bit IPs like Desert Strike or Road Rash unfortunately.

Similar stuff with Ubi Soft - the South Park license though is well made and a nice touch, but nothing all that interesting to me. Looks like Rayman has been left for dead now, no 3D or 2D platformer to speak of. One IP I've been interested in seeing Ubi Soft make a sequel to is not back yet - Rocksmith, the guitar game. I've been interested in trying it, but I guess it's a bit early for them to work on an update from the 2013 release. Or maybe they didn't see the need in another niche title right now. Not sure.

We'll see what Sony brings to the table in this next presser. I expect more classic IP's to show up, most notably all the rumors about Final Fantasy VII remake may come true. Probably a fair focus on Metal Gear, and maybe show vaporware game Last Guardian.

Wow even a Rare collection does not intrigue anyone here? Thought this place would be flooded with posts in regard to that!

I have been too busy to watch the press conferences or post on the forum in the last few days, but my answer to that question is a resounding YES! With this and the Mega Man Legacy Collection on its way, it looks like retro games are getting more mainstream respect these days. Hopefully we'll see a similar collection for Castlevania games. That would be awesome.

The Xbox One backwards compatibility is a tour-de-force by Microsoft. I was sure that it wouldn't be possible to achieve such open-ended compatibility given how different the Xbox 360's architecture is. I applaud them for it and look forward to making plenty of use out of this feature.

Sony's been dropping bombs this conference. The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy VII remake, and Shenmue 3? That's NUTS!

Not that I'm not going to drop $400 on it anytime soon, but that's fairly impressive.

Yeah BC goes a long way, and Phil definitely understands that not all of us want to shell out for remakes anymore! More like port-overs but you get my point.

Also, it would be awesome if an indie dev helped fund a MicroVision flashback-type handheld. That'd be classic.

All I know is Microsoft needs to keep EA off their stage. The entirity of everything from Bethesda, the Nintendo Chapionships, backstage shows, and the beginning of the Microsoft conference were making me think this would be a perfect E3. Then what's his name from EA got up and I wanted to vomit.

" We're thrilled to announce that with our EA Access pass program on the Xbox One with a Gold Pass Program you can get up to 15% off your purchases of Madden! And that's not all, we'll discuss some possible backwards compatible EA games at some point, but I am clearly uncomfortable with this now, as it decreases the value of our EA Access Vault. Speaking of out Vault, we're letting everyone with a Gold Account on Xbox try it for free for SEVEN. WHOLE. DAYS! As long as you have Gold."

He took the thunder right out of the presentation until the second he was gone away. After what Bethesda did, and what Sony is doing, and with Microsoft gone clearly over to the side of the good guys, and Nintendo getting their act back together, and even Activision making real moves to change what Call of Duty and Destiny are, I can't help but see EA as irrelevant and out of touch.
