How about a Theme Week beginning on July 12th for two weeks - and one that might link up with the new Ant-Man movie coming out in mid July. Games with Bugs (not technical bugs, but insects, spiders, scorpions, etc)

Lots of games might qualify - Centipede, Lady Bug, Yar's Revenge, It Came from the Desert, Sim Ant, Battle of Giants: Mutant Insects, Pitfall (with all those scorpions), Deadly Creatures, Spider The Video Game...

What do you think? Got any ants in your pants to play some of these games?

One insect themed game I particularly enjoyed was Insector X.

Pikmin has you killing all kinds of bugs (or bug like things anyway).

I think the ultimate bug games are the Earth Defense Force games. I like em all. I HATE bugs and playing these games is like my own personal revenge simulator. Plus they're the closest thing we'll ever get to a Starship Troopers type game.

There are a few I'd like to bring up...

SimAnt (SNES)- Weird game where it is basically a stripped down version of Sim City, with ants (who would have guessed)... Take over the whole yard with your swarm of ants!

Buck Bumble (N64)- I think the only thing this game is known for is it's theme song... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0HoiN7iwpE. . You play a bee who shoots things...

Bee 52 (Nes)- This game is actually a lot of fun. You control a bee gathering pollen (or something) from plants while going for the high score.

Fusion Frenzy (Xbox)- The Mario Party rip-off for Xbox. Judging the game by the whole package, it sucks... But some of the individual mini games are a lot of fun. There are several that have you destroying hordes of insects which can actually be a lot of fun when you destroy the big bug that explodes and takes out everyone within a certain radius.

"Dedant" from Action 52. Hey, nobody said they had to be good games.

Anyone ever play Apidya on the Amiga ?

Great arcade style shooter in which you control a bee dealing out death to other creepy crawlers.

Killer Bees on the Odyssey 2, Frog Bog on the Intellivision, and Ant Smasher on mobile and Bad Mojo on PC.

Since there is an Other Media forum now, bug movies and such should be fair game too.
