I grew up with the PlayStation One as my first ever console, but I've pretty much given up putting anybody on a pedestal (Including Nintendo, but now is not the time to rant about them). Not all of Microsoft is a greed vortex, if you've seen their lineup of Windows Phones they are true quality. I don't like how they handle their breadbaskets of employees, but I can see the positive side of things on the product spectrum.
On topic; Mattrick and Phil are Apples to Oranges. Mattrick could give the sunny rear end of a damn about the gaming industry and lived in Ballmers shadow rather than think of anyone other than himself, Phil Spencer has that charisma no other MS Gaming Studio Suit head ever leveled with. Anything that goes wrong is likely out of Phil's control since Mattrick took the majority of the Xbox One's plans years before it was on anyone's scope.
Five years of planning; you don't just walk away from that DRM debacle even if you set a better path.
From someone who actually owns and uses one of these mythical Windows Phones, they're value, yes. But quality? No not really. I can't even use the browser on the one I have more than 5 consecutive minutes without it crashing. For $30 though, it's not bad, but lets just say I see why Microsoft just cut 7,000 mostly Nokia type employees and written off the entire acquisition as a loss.
I actually LIKE their new CEO. Nadella is really opening up things as 'Windows as a service' that should have been done YEARS ago and is pushing to finally get this new Windows to have people upgrade to be all under one banner. We'll see how well Windows 10 takes off in a week or so.
