Just read this interesting story about how a lot of people are getting paid to edit Wikipedia to advocate for special interests.

The Video Game Critic's page on Wikipedia was taken down a few months back. Anybody think it was the result of the establishment trying to silence sites like might who speak out against some of the big publishers (like EA) and their unethical business practices? I have a some unpopular opinions in the community. Maybe they want to just sweep me under the rug.

I think so. Some people may dismiss it as "conspiracy theory", but I think it's more likely true then not.

I have to take a test in order to get "licensed" in my career. I purchased a book that advertised itself as the greatest study exam for this test available. I read every last page in that book & it was incredible. The material was spot on for what my licensure should be all about. In fact I think that book was more informative & helpful then any of the lame classes I had to take in order to get my degree. There was one major problem, however, the guy who wrote the book failed to pay off the testing committee. They in turn were pissed that someone else was trying to profit off of their BS licensing requirements so they purposely made certain not to include ANY information that was in the study guide book in their tests. Can I prove it? No, but I can't think of a better explanation as to why absolutely nothing in the study guide showed up in the tests. I know my field of work fairly well & I strongly believe that the study guide was by far a much better representation of the information that is important then what the actual licensing exam tested me on. It's all about politics & money.

It wouldnt surprise me. Its like reading product reviews on Amazon or other big-box websites. You know the majority of those are paid reviewers. Most of them read like scripts.

Wikipedia was never totally reliable, but was a decent reference starting point. But now, it's unusable due to special interests, including the junta of SJW editors on anything that touches on a cultural or political topic.
