Re: Fall Gaming?

I remember playing FIFA 2002 on the PS2 when it came out and it was just fabulous. It felt great playing quality sports titles after the debacle that was the 5th generation for sports games. And it does remind me of fall. I actually just saw that the VGC did review Virtua Striker 2 for the Dreamcast. It got a poor grade. I never played the game, but it was released on the Model 3 and I think it's gotten a poor reception. The original Virtua Striker was on the Model 2, which was one of the most legendary arcade boards ever. It was the first 3d soccer game, way back in 1994, and was great. Those years in the 90's with the Model 2, SEGA had one of the finest lineups of arcade games ever. It just gets my blood boiling thinking that if SEGA had come out with a 3d console that could have properly handled those games they would've done so much better against the PS1. It just gets me so upset to think that so many arcade games from the mid 90's either got shoddy ports or didn't even make it to a home console. I have absolutely no clue why Virtua Striker wasn't one of the launch titles for the Saturn. Apparently it never got released (or the sequel) for the Saturn because they planned to support it with the Worldwide Soccer games. The first Worldwide Soccer Game, International Victory Goal, was a launch title in 1995, and the graphics are pathetic, they just look ridiculous compared to Virtua Striker, it's from an overhead top down view, and you could mistake it for something from the previous generation. What a joke, and you wonder why the Saturn didn't do well. It couldn't handle some of their arcade games. It's so unfortunate they couldn't have gotten it, because now I'm convinced they just couldn't handle Virtua Striker and it's 3d polygon graphics. SEGA Worldwide Soccer '97 looks a heck of a lot better but still doesn't have polygonal players. So even in 1996 they couldn't do on the Saturn what they did on the Model 2 back in 1994, with its fully polygonal environment.
