I have a family member that LOVES the Assasin's Creed games....has them all. Got me thinking, what are some of your favorite modern franchises? And for this purpose, we'll say that modern is PS2 era onward.

Metal Gear Solid?
Resident Evil?
Halo?
Call of Duty?
Etc.......

Souls by far. Gaming stagnated a bit during the early years of the 7th generation, and Demon's Souls introduced a disruptive combination of innovative design features and old school difficulty. It represented a way forward for console action RPGs in the HD generation. It was bold, uncompromising, and risky.

Other than that, I've always loved Halo. Even when it gets a little boring, I never seem to get enough of this series.

I guess the only franchises I have really followed (for the most part) are Metal Gear and Zelda. I have also been a fan of the "Midway Arcade" and "Namco Museum" games, are those a franchise though?

I was a big fan of the Arkham games but Origins really soured me on the franchise. That game was just terrible.

I guess the only franchises that I actually play a lot of would be Mario, fire emblem, and smash bros. Usually I play like one game in the series (if it is even a series) and then go on to something else unrelated.

Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, Tales Of... when I finally get around to playing Persona, I feel like that'll be a favorite too.

I enjoyed Mass Effect's universe and storyline more than any game I've played in a long time. It had a feel and story similar to old PC sci-fi games that I loved back in the day and I enjoyed how the story was so cohesive between the games with decisions having repercussions throughout the series. Well, except the ending to ME3, that is best left forgotten. Here's to hoping Andromeda is better than ME3 was.
