Who is passing on the New Gen consoles?

I am for sure. I have heard nothing but headaches about The XBox One and PS4. Constant downloads, updates, broken games, etc. Just a week ago I was about to buy a PS4 when a friend who owned one cautioned me against it. He says he barely plays it and mainly plays his 360, PS2 and Genesis. Being both a modern and classic gamer I went to a retro video game store a day later. The owner told me that at least at his store, he sells very little of the current gen (his being 85% retro understandable) but the NES games are his biggest sellers, followed by the PS2, Genesis, 360 and PS3. I think I am just going to wait for the gen after this to see if the problems are corrected. What about you all out there?

Well considering that the Xbox One and PS4 are still in their early years I don't see anything wrong with waiting. Two years may seem like a lot of time but the 360 and PS3 took several years to really get going. I own the Wii U and PS4 and enjoy both a lot, however there is no big rush to own anything from this generation yet. Probably in about a year the consoles will be picking up a lot more steam as the consoles get cheaper and more people start buying them. Right now they are in the awkward phase where a lot of the games are being released on last gen and this gen, so a lot of people haven't jumped ship.

The NES, SNES, and Genesis are all hot sellers right now. That has more to do with the boom in retro gaming and those set of buyers now being grown up, having disposable incomes, and wanting to relieve their childhood.

I've been skipping them so far

There are enough old games to keep me busy forever but I'll pick them up once they are cheap enough. I'm getting pretty tempted for the Xbox One, and will get it once I see one for like 200 bucks. I will be getting a PS4 by the time Shenmue 3 comes out because I already paid for my copy and I'm not missing out on that.

This is the first gen that doesn't really feel next gen to me. I've played around with the new consoles but aside from having a bit better graphics, I don't see why any of these games couldn't have been done on the 360. It's not even like the graphical advantages are night and day.

Another reason to wait in my opinion is the possibility that a slim model will be released for either console. If I buy one I'm hoping that it will be able to play 4k blu rays just to keep myself future proofed.

I'm always one or 2 generations behind. Lol. You get the best of everything--cheap systems, cheap games (before they get "retro" and get expensive again), and the opportunity to browse the full catalog of games to determine if it is a system you want to spend some time with.

My brother always has the latest a systems, yet when I go over there, he's usually showing me indie downloadable games. Lol.

I haven't gotten one yet as I haven't seen much that appeals to me. Now that Fallout 4 is out its no longer "if", but "when"I get a current gen console.

I'm also intrigued and plan to get Wasteland 2, Divinity: Original Sin and Legends of the Sword Coast. Those 3 games all look like PC throwbacks of Baldur's Gate & the original Fallout games. I loved those games back in the day & have been waiting for years for consoles to start making games like them. It looks like this generation is finally making that a reality & I'm pretty happy about that.

I've also put off playing the Last of Us so I might as well wait at this point to just play the Remasterd Version. Also a new Hot Shots Golf is in the works & the rumor is that they will finally include a (Create a Player) mode. Hopefully they'll include a career mode as well.

So it looks like I'm wanting a PS4, because some of the games I want are exclusive. The real deal breaker for me though is how Fallout 4 performs on both systems. Last gen Fallout performed better on Xbox. This gen I've read rumors that Xbox will have mor modding tools so I hope that's not true as I would prefer a PS4.

I'm finally getting excited for this gen & am finally finding some reasons to jump in.
