November sales data for consoles, record breaking for PS4

Postby NX17 » December 10th, 2015, 9:38 pm

Sales figures just came out for the month. Some are estimated based on percentages because only Sony wanted to brag about it's success, and Nintendo's are very, very bad.

Sony - 1,500,000 PS4 sold. Most for Playstation brand in one month ever.
Microsoft ~ 1,300,000 estimated XBox One sold. Most for XBox One in one month.
Nintendo ~ 240,000 estimated Wii U sold. No PR release from Nintendo.

It's obvious PS4 is winning and is indeed going to win this generation, but hats off to Microsoft they've really turned the corner and are putting up a great fight.

Another year or two and I think it will be at the point where both consoles are worth owning.

Since Phil Spencer took over, I've wanted to buy an Xbox One in solidarity with a company actually making a good move. It's nice to see sales reflecting improvement in management.

Agreed about Sony vs. Microsoft. Honestly I don't even see how a real 'console war' exists. Some try to make it that way, but it's the lamest 'console war' of all time, if so.

Third parties are running things now, exclusives for the most part have been meaningless. Tomb Raider apparently bombed and Halo has fallen off a ton from where it was as well apparently. Call of Duty, Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout, etc are the big deals now; and they're on both systems. Here is the software charts:

1.) Call of Duty: Black Ops III - (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3, PC | Actvision Blizzard) - Higher than Advanced Warfare, highest selling game since 2013
2.) Fallout 4 (PS4, Xbox One, PC | Bethesda Softworks) - Up 70% versus Fallout: New Vegas and 9% versus Fallout 3 when adjusted for days in the month, more comparable to Skyrim
3.) Star Wars: Battlefront (PS4, Xbox One, PC | Electronic Arts) - Up 21% versus The Force Unleashed, the previous best selling Star Wars game (it had a worldwide LTD of over 7 million copies)
4.) Madden NFL 16 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3 | Electronic Arts)
5.) NBA 2K16 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3 | Take-Two)
6.) FIFA 16 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3 | Electronic Arts)
7.) Need For Speed (PS4, Xbox One | Electronic Arts)
8.) Halo 5: Guardians (Xbox One | Microsoft)
9.) Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate (PS4, Xbox One, PC | Ubisoft)
10.) Just Dance 2016 (Wii, Wii U, 360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3 | Ubisoft)

Basically, exclusives have never mattered less, there are much less exclusives out there than their used to be, and the power difference is mostly negligible. The main difference being PS4 titles come in 1080p, and XBox One come in 900p. That's it. Flip a coin as to which one to own, they're both the same.

The bigger story to me is how Nintendo is taking huge hits. The Animal Crossing game and Mario Tennis game apparently bombed big time. No hardware sales, no software sales, their whole business is almost Amiibo right now, which is scary.
