The Video Game Critic

I used to have RPG Maker 3 for PS2 and had a decently fun time with it, even if I could never figure out how to use it right. I'm thinking about giving VX Ace a try now. They say it's the easiest to learn, but still powerful enough to create some cool games. Seems like it'd be a neat creative outlet, maybe I could even turn some of my books into games. Has anyone else used this, or any other RPG Maker program? What did you think, and would you recommend it?
