Been playing a lot of Rad Racer lately. I miss how they used to say "rad". Apparently such a word also describes The Legend of Zelda. Rad.

It's a futuristic racer with weapons, shields, and speed power-ups. The cars are like those remote control cars that have giant knobby tires and can flip over and keep going. You can also drive on the walls and ceilings (if you're going fast enough). There are even some destructible things around the tracks, which you can use to mess with opponents. All that talk about Crash's return got me in the mood for Crash Team Racing. Ages pretty well.

I bought it back in July, 2010 when I read the critic's review on it. It's aged remarkably well. The game makes up for only having 6 courses by putting an insane amount of shortcuts, alternate routes, hidden boxes to unlock cheat codes, and the Police Beetle. All of the courses are terrific, but my favorite course is Metro Madness, with its distant sunset and loads of creative shortcuts (crashing through a movie theater!!!)

Anyway, forgot to mention Diddy Kong Racing as well. Words cannot describe how much fun it is to play, so just go out and get it if you have an N64!
