This is super basic, but are you shifting into high gear? Took me about 10 tries of just failing the first stage to realize that.

Otherwise, the breaking advice is the next thing I can think of.

Didn't realize that was an option! Will have to check that out.

Again with finding grammatical errors in my own posts. Shame on me.

It's been a combination of local stores and online purchases. If I use ebay it's always an auction. I try to stay away from "Buy It Now" prices. I find if you're patient you can still get decent deals.

Here are few more recent pickups"

Dodonpachi Resurrection (360)
Ninja gaiden II (360)
Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage (360)
Fist of the North Star 2 (360)
Onechanbara Bikini Samurai Squad (360)

Code Name Viper (NES)
Friday the 13th (NES)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (NES)

Sin and Punishment Star Successor (Wii)

Pilotwings (SNES)

I just had a fantastic find.I was having a crappy last couple of weeks at work, so I stopped at a local store one day over lunch. The guy sees me walk in and says, "I was hoping you would stop in." That's either a GREAT sign, or a sad one. I'll let you decide.

Anyway, he grabs a Rubbermaid tote from the floor behind the counter and sets it on the counter. I start digging through it, and it's all Dreamcast games, which he knows I'm collecting. Long story short, I pull out 27 games, all complete, scratch free and in perfect cases, that I did not have. Here's the list:

AeroWings
Army Men Sarge's Heroes
Bust-A-Move 4
Capcom vs SNK
Centipede
Coaster Works
Daytona USA
Dynamite Cop
Dead or Alive 2
Evil Dead Hail to the King
Evolution the World of Sacred Device
Evolution 2 Far off Promise
Expendable
The Next Tetris On-line Edition
NFL Quarterback Club 2000
Outrigger
Razor Freestyle Scooter
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing Round 2
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis
Re-Volt
Sega Rally 2 Sega Rally Championship
Soul Fighter
Star Wars Episode I Jedi Power Battles
Tokyo Xtreme Racer
Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2
Ultimate Fighting Championship
Wetrix+

I was totally unprepared - hadn't been following prices lately so I was completely guessing on value. He looks my picks over and says, "I'll do them all for $250." I went with my gut, and bought them. Afterward I looked them all up on Video Game Price Charting, and it tallied roughly $460. I was stoked!

This is a very cool (although difficult) run-and-gun game that I had as a kid. I'm surprised the Critic hasn't checked it out - given his preferences, it feels like something he'd give at least a B.

In the last three months or so, I've picked up the following:
Broforce (PC)
Crypt of the Necrodancer (PC)
Enter the Gungeon (PC)
Huniepop (PC)
Final Fantasy Tactics (PSN download)
Final Fantasy VI (PSN download)
Okami HD (PSN download)
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (PSN download)
Viewtiful Joe (Gamecube)
Nier (XBox360) - Picked this up because I'm going to want to play the sequel with the combat designed by Platinum Games, but also because I've heard good things about the story and characters.

Yeah I really like it. It's essentially Capcom's version of Namco's Rolling Thunder. Except now the spy motif has been dropped from a more generic commando/army theme. It's a very difficult game that requires quite a bit of memorization and quick reflexes...but a fun game to plug away at. It's also dirt cheap and you can easily find a copy for $5 or so.

Just had a nice find on Craigslist. Bought roughly $325 worth (according to video game price charting, anyway) of Genesis stuff for $170. Included (all CIB):

Ghostbusters
Thunderforce III
Hellfire
Decap Attack
Bio-Hazard Battle

A few others, and a console and controllers. Everything looks and plays like its brand new. Clamshells all still have their hang tags. I was happy with it.

Busy-A-Move Millennium (GBC)

Puzzle Bobble 2 was (and still is) one of my favorite PC games. Finally I have a version I can play anywhere. Hope this version's just as good as 2.
