Hi all and to the VGC,

Just wanted to give a heads up about a possible spam or malware threat from the "Genesis vs. SNES" thread in the Classic Gaming forum.

This morning I was on my I-pad and was checking out the thread (12 pages long), and as I was going from page to page, I got a warning that my i-Pad was locked out for security reasons, that using my i-Pad could result in a loss of data, and to call an 800 number to resolve the issue. It seemed like a total scam of course, so I logged off. However, every time I tried to get back to the internet, the same message popped up. Happened about 7-10 times before my i-Pad blocked the site.

A couple hours later I got on my Windows desktop, was checking the same "Genesis vs. SNES" thread, and the same thing happened.

Not sure if it's anything serious, but just wanted to let people know.

Thank you for your post Gleebergloben123. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this on that thread or any other threads on the site?

Please DO NOT go to the Genesis vs. SNES thread as it's embedded with a Trojan.

The thread is out of quarantine and is back in the Classic Gaming forum. I just went through the pages to see if the thread was clean, and when I got from page 8 to 9, or 9 to 10, my security software blocked another page popping up due to it being a Trojan.

I PM'd VGC and Scotland about this, but wanted to let others know just in case VGC and Scotland are away from their computers.

Okay, I have no idea what was going on with that thread but I full on deleted it (sorry to anyone who posted on the thread). Whether anyone else experienced this or not I didn't want to risk it.
