Your Dream Game?

Postby DaHeckIzDat » March 19th, 2016, 4:16 pm

If you could have one game made for you that would have everything you could possibly want in it, what would it be like?

For me, it'd be a game I've been developing in my head for a while. It combines aspects of open world RPGs like Skyrim with the randomization and customization of Minecraft. You get a procedurally generated world with every new game, but instead of staying in one place you're sent on a quest. The world is longer than it is wide, giving you plenty of room for exploration while still keeping you moving forward. There are different biomes that you have to journey through, each of them requiring different techniques to survive, and you'll need to scavenge resources from the game world itself to get the right equipment. There is a curse that's creeping up the map, spawning high level monsters and stuff, and your goal is to make it to the other side of the map to retrieve some special weapons and armor and then venture all the way back to the beginning to spawn the end boss and kill him. Since the world is randomly generated, the journey would never be the same twice. There would also be options to adjust how big the world is depending on how long you want the journey to be. You play it in third person, with combat similar to The Legend of Zelda or The Elder Scrolls (either would work). You could adventure underground with mining. There would be towns with inns, stores, and NPCs offering sidequests to help you level up faster. And, of course, you'd be able to play with your friends either split screen or online.

What's yours?

For me, it would be a combination of ninja gaiden (NES) and super Mario bros 3. Essentially, ninja gaiden with the speed of Mario 3 and the alternating paths. Oh, and boss battles would have done street fighter 2 elements.

Boring but I'd just want a sequel to space station silicon valley (N64) with beautiful graphics and huge levels.

I'm a big Metal Gear fan and think Phantom Pain is almost the perfect game, but my dream would be for Kojima to
Remake the original Metal Gear 1&2 from the MSX in 3D and really flesh them out. That would be awesome.

An ultra realistic PC racing simulator modeling the 1980 NASCAR Winston Cup season.

This season stands out for a variety of reasons. It was the last season where classic full size American vehicles were still eligible for competition, with the series adapting the more slimmed down cars the following year that had taken over Detroit. There were six American brands racing that season with Dodge, Oldsmoble, Ford, Chevrolet, Buick, and Mercury all represented.

The body styles were all still stock and all looked very different from each other, unlike the revolution that was to start about five seasons later that has led to the only resemblance to the street counterpart being the name that they're badged with today. The racing was great, the V8's weren't tamed with restrictor plates halving their horsepower on the sport's fastest circuits, the tires were bias ply, no silly rules, no speed limit on pit road, the field wasn't frozen when a caution flag flew, etc. And the schedule was great.

I'll spare the details since the reasons why would be meaningless to you all, but the variety of circuits raced on was excellent and something that's very much lacking with today's Sprint Cup schedule. And change was right around the corner with two of the most modern superspeedways in the country set to fail and disappear the following season.

A SMRPG sequel would be great. So would a Paper Mario in the style of the first two. Oh, and a 3D platformer that starts a genre renaissance for this mostly dead genre.

Do you have any interest in Yooka-Laylee? That could be the 3d platformer you're looking for.

Pyschonauts 2 has also been announced but it's so far off that I don't want to keep my hopes up that it actually releases.

Yeah, I'm hoping Yooka-Laylee will usher in a new era of 3D platformers, kind of like games such as New Super Mario Bros. and Little Big Planet did for 2D platformers.

For me it would be a new Streets of Rage game in the classic 2D style but in HD. And it would feature massive branching stages so you really could explore than awesome city skyline. C'mon Sega!

I don't usually demand sequels as much as new games, but in this case I want

Blast Corps 2 (It's a crime that it hasn't even gotten released at this point)

A new Rush game based on the classic late 90s games

Ristar 2: A cameo in Sonic All Star Racers Transformed isn't going to cut it, Sega'

A new freaking Road Rash for crying out loud.
