The 'Informative Articles' are really buried. There could be a Retro 101 section for things like articles on collecting, cleaning, hooking up, etc right off main launch page.

I was looking at an article for a new adapter for the NES to use any wireless blutooth controller (I prefer vintage controllers), but many of the comments were about hooking up systems on modern TVs, lag times, scart and component cables, etc. There are lots of retro questions this community has discussed that could be helpful as an article, and the article should be prominent.

This is a really good idea - a centralized page with all the basics on retro game collecting.

Here's a basic outline to start with:

Buying systems
Buying games
Hooking up systems
Cleaning games
Storing games

Let's hear some more ideas!

Linking to the forums would be beneficial.

Of course a person can do a web search and find articles or videos on retro gaming topics, but here they can get a reply and even a discussion on their particular issue.

I think this site may be in a Goldilocks zone for these kinds of questions. The community has discussed these things, its not overly technical, it covers a range of consoles from the pongs to the playstations, and best of all, the forum is 'usually' friendly and helpful.
