Do horror games scare you?

I've played Silent Hill 1, Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, and Fatal Frame, and none of those games have ever managed to scare me. More often, I'd end up at a boss fight with no ammo and hardly any health, and get so annoyed that I'd quit the game. The only game that's managed to get me on edge was Five Nights at Freddie's (don't hang me!) because, for all its faults, it actually does really well and building up suspense. What about you? Do horror games actually scare you?

I guess being scared is hard for me to define. I'd describe the better Silent Hill games (1-3 and Shattered Memories) as being oppressive, uncomfortable and sad more than straight-up scary, but there are definitely jump-scares (the bit with the telephone in the schoolroom in the original Silent Hill almost sent me through the roof) and moments of blind panic in them as well. Resident Evil 4 is a great game (I'd still put it in my top 10), but it's more creepy in a fun, self-aware sort of way - although when you arrive in the first village and suddenly everyone starts chasing you it got my blood pumping. Still haven't played Dead Space or the Fatal Frame games (although I just bought a headphone adapter in preparation to do so). As for the ammo thing, I ran from everything in the original Silent Hill that I could until I got the Emergency Hammer in the basement of the hospital; that allows you to take care of slower enemies like nurses without wasting ammo, although you have to get used to the slow wind-up. In RE4, the knife is a viable weapon against most human enemies - shoot them once in the legs with a pistol to bend them over and then hack away; that way you'll have all the ammo you need against the tougher monsters. If you get surrounded and can't run, you can send a bunch of human enemies flying with a single shotgun blast.

I never thought a game would scare. I've played most of th Resident Evils and Silent Hills and I agree with Velcro, more creepy than scary. THEN I played Alien Isolation. Yes that one is freaking terrifying. That one is seriously scary, really the only game I can say that about.

Silent Hill 2 on the Xbox. It scared the bejeezus out of me. And I've never touched another horror game since.
And I'm okay with that.
