Return of Cartridges?

With all the speculation about the possible return of cartridges (on the Nintendo NX) I went back and searched a few old threads for the time I FORETOLD this would happen:

In my response to an unrelated subject, I stated:
You have to admit guys, while I'm not always right a lot of times I see things the mainstream media does not.
The return of carts would be a dream come true for collectors like myself, and would probably reinvigorate the retro-gaming scene. I know several people I've talked to who have been out of the video game scene for a while have said they would dive back in if Nintendo released a cartridge-based machine.

I will go one better and predict cartridges may make a come-back, for the following reasons:
- Game "size" has reached the point of diminishing return, and smaller-scale games are becoming popular again.
- The cost of chips is low enough to make it cost effective.
- Cartridges are the most secure media against piracy (although obviously nothing is foolproof).
For gamers it's also a winning proposition - minimal (if any) load times and a media that lasts forever.
...and they'll still come with manuals!
