I'm with you, Herschie. It feels a little unnatural playing old games on an HDTV. I'm fortunate to have an CRT HDTV, which gives the benefits of a CRT tube, but with an HDMI hookup. But for the real old systems (70s and early 80s), I have a little TV like the one you're using there. When I'm testing out old systems, I'll hook it up at the kitchen table with that little TV. Actually, right now my Atari 7800 is hooked up to it. Needless to say, my wife is not a fan of that setup....

Since this old topic of mine is still hanging around, I figured I'd post an update to show another element I incorporated into my game room when I finished it a couple years ago.

I call this the "Nintendo vs. Sega wall". My intention was to pit Nintendo and Sega side-by-side, invoking the console war of the early 90s.

Plus, since Nintendo and Sega make up the largest portion of 80s and 90s systems, it made practical sense to group them together this way for organization purposes. The games and consoles here span the mid-80s to early 2000s. I decided to use the wall space above to do a lineup of all the system boxes and extra memorabilia. Unfortunately, space is always a factor and I couldn't fit as much as I wanted in here - for example, all of my Saturn games are on another wall. If anyone is interested, the shelve units were from Amazon (the brand is Prepac), and the shelving up top came from Home Depot. I love those two logo signs which I got on ebay for like $40 each.. pricey, but they really help the look. I like this wall, but any suggestions to spice it up are always welcome!

You have no idea how much more immersed I am. When I played using the Framemeister and all them gidgets, gadgets, I found myself quickly getting bored. Now I'm losing myself in these games again. They're fun. It's great!

And Retro, I like how you have things organized. Pretty awesome setup!

You know, sometimes less is more. So my wife and I are getting ready to put our townhouse on the market. Which means some major decluttering. I actually put my 360, PS4, Xbox, Master System, Genesis, and Colecovision in storage. That leaves my NES, SNES, PS4, PS3, Wii U, N64, and Switch.

And whoa, my game room actually looks so much nicer! No ugly, clunky furniture. Don't have to worry about wires everywhere. Much easier to clean the dust. And most importantly, it's ready for the listing agent.

Yeah, we're basically fed up with the neighbors. Hard to enjoy video games when their kids are right outside my window, screaming at the top of their lungs. Then their parents blame you when you complain.

I think after we move, I'm just going to have the systems that I play the most hooked up, and leave the ones that I just play once in a while stored away. Otherwise it just looks cluttered and junky, and the wires really get out of hand.
