Playing a Metroidvania game, and I find I am possibly abusing the saves. The story should have missteps, mistakes, and yes, fatalities.
In other games, I have used save points too much like life lines, to magically restore health that has nothing to do with the story. Still, many games magically restore health after you 'lose a life' or continue. Now there are emulators and the Retron 5, where you can add save states in games that never had them.
Any opinions on saving, save points, and save scumming?

Re: Save Scumming
I'm going to turn this into a positive.
I regularly use save states as a 'trainer' so I can practice and practice various levels. I then go back and see if I can complete it 'normally' only then would I consider the game complete.
