Cars - 6.5-I've read it is actually pretty fun on current gen, and the Wii is just the same with added controls.

Open Season -no idea. Who cares?
Hey, I saw both of those movies and they (especially Cars) were pretty good. My favorite film so far this year is a tie between Over the Hedge and Talladega Nights.
What? Are you kidding? I was talking about the games.
Koopa those films are terrible man.  My highlights of the year have been Inside Man, The Departed and The Lake House.  Now those are great films.
Same to you. What are you guys talking about movies for? I also don't understand why Lake House is in your list. I'm going to assume you're also kidding. Seriously, let's try to stay on topic. I liked this subject, and I don't feel like having it develop into the best movies of the year page.

a I can't remember how old you are?  Are you one of the teens on this board?  I don't mean this in an insulting way.  It is just that if you have never truly been in love then you won't get The Lake House.

Hollywood virtually never puts out a romantic drama film that actually has characters in it who are really in love like people are in real life.  They practically always go for some stupid childish and selfish version of it.  The Lake House is one of the extremely few movies that mirrors real relationships.

I was just calling Koopa out because he picked a bunch of kiddie movies and said they were some of the best of the year - you gotta be kidding me.

He has to be if he put boring drivel like inside man on the best of the year list.
People think titles like Far Cry and Double Agent will control well on the Wii?! XD.
Not only will they control badly but they get the advantage of looking like ps2 games (farcry so does so don't even start).

I was basing Lake House being bad off of reviews of it; mainly the New York Times and Rolling Stone reviews. I am guilty of judging before seeing, but generally they are reliable. I don't remember Inside Man at all, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it, so it can't be that great a movie. Cars was decent, and the Departed was great, other than that I can't say I find the movie selection of either you or Koopa to be great (Talladegga had is moments, though). I am one of the teen's on this post, but I hardly find that to be relevant. The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine are the best movies I've seen in a while.

Wow I haven't checked on this thread in a few days and apparently it turned into an chat about...movies!  Well the only thing I've seen recently was The Prestige and it was simply amazing.  Easily the best film I've seen this year (though I still haven't seen the Departed).

Anyways...I want to change my guess rating for Metal Slug Anthology.  I orginally thought the game would score pretty low with critics (7.3), but this video on gamespot has cause me to change my opinion.

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/metalsluganthology/media.html?sid=6160629&autoplay=6160629&tag=topslot;action;1

Click on the video that says "On the Spot Demo"

The demo goes over all of the controls (there are six in all) as well as going into more detal about the game itself.  The reason I feel that the game is going to rate highly is because the continue system is finally worked out.  Most shooters are released with unlimited continues, this game gives you that option or you can limit your continues to 10,20,30 or 40...nice.  The game is also retailing at $39.99 which is nice and makes it all the more appealing.  I love the Metal Slug series and this game is a no brainer for someone like me.  I think the final rating of this game will be between 8.0 - 8.5.

Cool idea for a thread. I am approaching this from the angle of my own personal taste, not what I think they'll rate...

Tony Hawk Downhill Jam - 4.0 I don't like these types of games. THawk needs to retire.
Trauma Center: Second Opinion - 9.0 Loved the idea on the DS.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Ball Blitz - 7.0 Hopefully a good party game.
Madden 07 - 7.5 Doubt I'd buy this one.
Rayman Raving Rabbids - ???? I have no idea on this one.
Need for Speed Carbon - 7.0 Racing games are hit and miss with me.
Wii Sports - 9.5 I tend to think this will be more fun than people think it will be. And I don't care about graphics for this one, since it is truly all about the controller function mimicking the real sports.
Red Steel - 9.0 I think this game could be awesome, if done right. We'll see. A potential sleeper hit.
Excite Truck - 9.0 Ditto.
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess - 9.9 I love Zelda. Hard to go wrong.

Elebits - ???
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - 7.0 Not into comic book titles. Could be a good bargain bin pickup later.
Metal Slug - 7.5 I love shooters but I tend to find that they can't hold me attention like they used to.
Far Cry Vengeance - 7.0 A good game, puzzled as to why they would port it to the Wii though.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent - 7.0 Same feeling as Far Cry... ports aren't really going to do the Wii justice, but that's what you are going to get with any new console early on.
Cars - 8.0 The "Cars" games for other systems have been competent. A sleeper?
Open Season - ???
Dragon Ball Z - 5.0 Not my thing.

By the way, I agree on the Prestige.... not a "great" movie, but darned good. The book it is based on seems fascinating (it is different than the movie in some important ways, especially regarding the "goodness" of the main characters).

From what I've read about Monkey Ball the controls and the amount of levels and mini games make it the best Monkey Ball ever. Even better than Monkey Ball Adventure!...Seriously though, its supposed to be great. If you don't care much for Splinter Cell leave it at 7, but if you like it then give it the same grade as the current gen versions. Anything released on PS2 will look just fine on Wii, and I'm sure the controls will at the very least be competent(Ubisoft loves the Wii, and will probably try as hard as possible to make the controls good). Knock Dragon Ball Z down 4 points if it is already not your thing. I read the Wii controls are awful and pointless. Something that will happen at launch and probably for a little while after, but these pointless incorporations of the Wii-mote should die down just like with DS.

The first two reviews for the Wii have just been released on ign.  They reviewed Wii Sports and Trauma Center.

Wii Sports received a score of 7.5 and Trauma Center received a score of 8.0.  Not too shabby.  I expected both games to score a little higher, but for a pack in game and a quirky niche title it could be worse.

As a side note the PS3 game Resistance: Fall of Man received a 9.1.  Thats about how I thought it would do.  A really great game that does all the little things correctly, while not really adding anything new to the genre.

Excite Truck just got a 6.8 on Gamespot. They say it felt like a tech demo, not a game.

Thats kind of how I figured Excitetruck to be.  It might be a game worth getting once it comes down to the $20 price.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz got a score of 8.4 from IGN.  I thought it would score a tad higher based on how some of the editors were gushing about it in previews.  My orginal guess was an 8.9.  My orginal guess for excitetruck was 7.3.  I wasn't too far off on either title.
