Wii Launch - Guess Ratings

Since the Wii launch is only a few weeks away I have decided to make a post about how I think the bigger launch titles will score with critics.  Without further adieu here is my list...

Tony Hawk Downhill Jam - 8.0
Trauma Center: Second Opinion - 8.6
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Ball Blitz - 8.9
Madden 07 - 8.7
Rayman Raving Rabbids - 9.0
Need for Speed Carbon - 7.7
Wii Sports - 8.5
Red Steel - 7.0
Excite Truck - 7.3*
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess - 9.6
Elebits - 8.3
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - 7.3
Metal Slug - 7.0
Far Cry Vengeance - 6.9
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent - 7.1
Cars - 6.0
Open Season - 6.5
Dragon Ball Z - 6.8

*I feel Excite Truck will either score in the average range due to lack of depth or it will get a score towards the high 8's if it is extremely fun to play.  I'm really torn on this one.

These are not what my personal ratings would be for the games, (if they were games like Metal Slug would get a much higher rating) rather this is how  I feel the general media will rate them.  Anyone care to agree or disagree?

Wow, those look almost like Gamespot scores.  Was that intentional?

It's generally become so hard to get a 10 at Gamespot now, that we've come to think of 9.6 as the new 10.

Cool post...I'll comment on the games that I have read about:

Tony Hawk Downhill Jam - ?

Trauma Center: Second Opinion - 7.0 (I think this is just a rehash of the DS game, maybe I am wrong?)

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Ball Blitz - 8.5

Madden 07 - 8.5

Rayman Raving Rabbids - 9.0 (people do talk highly of this one, but I hope you like mini-games)

Need for Speed Carbon - ?

Wii Sports - 6.0 (I am sorry, the graphics look so simple I almost want to laugh and I think it will get boring and repetive really quick)

Red Steel - 7.0

Excite Truck - ?

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess - ? (If this is anything like Windwaker it deserves an F, I don't know why, I can't get into these games, I just hate having to rely on Gamefaqs.com to complete a game)

Elebits - 6.0 (this looks like the most boring game ever made)

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance - 5.0 (the Wii is NOT going to be good for these type of repetive button mashing games; especially if the control is mapped to the Wii-mote which it is. I read an article on ign.com and it sounded exhausting)

Metal Slug - ? (can you use the classic controller for this?)

Far Cry Vengeance - ? (loved Far Cry on the PC and Xbox)

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent - 7.1 (How can this score so low if it scored so high on other systems?)

Cars - 6.0 (who cares, crap game but it is selling like crazy!)

Open Season - 6.5

Dragon Ball Z - ?

All in all a very unimpressive launch line-up for those who do not love Zelda.

Tony Hawk Downhill Jam - 8-Fun and simple.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion - 8-Too close to the DS game to get a really high score, but it is fun so it will get about an 8.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Ball Blitz -9-Like past Monkey Ball games but with more Mini games and levels, and a great control scheme.

Madden 07 - 9-I think the Wii controls will actually increase this games score. It sounds like a blast.

Rayman Raving Rabbids -9.25-Highly original, completely addictive, and with plenty of replay value from what I've read.

Need for Speed Carbon - 7.5-Added Wii controls won't do much for this, but it will be as fun as the other versions.
Wii Sports - 8-It sounds like fun, but its free so I could care less if it got a 5.
Red Steel - 6.5-Unless Ubisoft drastically improves the controls I don't see this getting higher than a 7.
Excite Truck - 8-Great fun with limited replay value I bet.
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess - 10-Sounds perfect to me.
Elebits -7.5-Sounds like a really interesting idea, that might not have too much depth.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent -8-Personally I think it would deserve a five, but I never liked Splinter Cell.

Cars - 6.5-I've read it is actually pretty fun on current gen, and the Wii is just the same with added controls.

Open Season -no idea. Who cares?

Dragon Ball Z -5-I read the added Wii controls are awful.

You think Downhill Jam's going to get a 3.5? I don't think you've even read anything about it if you think that; I'm pretty sure your basing that entirely off of the concept of the game.

I am missing your point... The Wii has online play.

None of the launch games will have online play though. I don't see it affecting reviews too much. Any reliable reviewer doesn't not like a game just because of a lack of online play. Game Informer, ign, and the critic all give good ratings to games that don't have online as long as they are fun. I don't know about other review sites. Maybe it's something that is a greater factor on gamespot and 1up.

I assume you mean the gamerankings average.   It's hard to tell, but I guess I can Try.  Keep in mind that a 75% is about average there.

Zelda 94%   This is the big game coming out so I expect Nintendo to put their heart into it.  The videos have been amazing for it

Metal Slug Collection -77%   This game will probably be underrated just because it's 2d.   If this collection has good emulation, it will be nothing short of one of the greatest classic games collections ever and I would give it a 90% or higher.   But that isn't gonna change the fact that it is gonna get a lower score than it should.

Rayman Raving Rabbids - 75%   Its strangeness might  cause it to have lower reviews

Red Steel -  68 %    Early reports haven't been very kind to this game.   Hopefully I am wrong.

Excite Truck - 78 %  It certainly looks interesting, but I don't know how deep this game will be.

Elebits - 64 %   I don't get the point of this game, and I don't think the critics will also.  Hopefully I'm wrong, but from what I have seen so far, this game appears to be a physics demo.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Ball Blitz -  73% the wii remote will be interesting, but I don't know if this game will offer anything new. Also the last monkey ball game was a major flop.

Wii Sports 82%   - I don't think Nintendo would be stupid enough to include a garbage game with its system.   But I think it's lack of depth will keep out of the 90s.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent - 84% This game is getting good reviews on the other systems, so it should do good on the Wii.  Hopefully the controls work for it.

Far Cry Vengeance 83% - This game could be a sleeper hit.   Every game in the Far Cry universe has been great so I have high hopes for this one.

Tony Hawk Downhill Jam - 73%  Downhill is definatly where this series has been going lately.  And I don't think this is the game to turn it around.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion  83%   The Wii remote should be kind to this game, and it has quite a following on the DS.  I'm looking foward to it.

Madden 07 - 82%  Early reports have been kind to this game, but I expect a lack of features to keep it from getting a higher score.

I'm probably wrong on a lot of these.  I'll find out later.
