Your Favorite Video Game Soundtracks?

By far one of, if not the most, remembered aspects of a game is the music. Video game music can impact us in our childhoods by setting the themes, moods, pumping up the adrenaline, setting tension, or just being whimsical.

So with that in mind, what are YOUR favorite video game soundtracks?

Here's mine:

Donkey Kong Country SNES Trilogy
Paper Mario (N64)
Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis)
Super Mario 64
Jet Force Gemini (N64)
Super Mario Galaxy
Castlevania Symphony of the Night
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Fire Emblem Awakening
Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Chrono Trigger
Sonic Adventure

Well, Mega Man 2 and Ninja Gaiden (NES) are automatic entries, but Super Metroid may be my favorite for the just effectiveness it has on the atmosphere.

All of the main Genesis Sonic games and Mega Man 2 have solid gold soundtracks. There are tunes I love from other games, but these ones in particular maintain a very high level of quality. Undertale is also no slouch.

I totally forgot to mention Earthbound. Good lord the music to that game is unreal. Every gamer needs to listen to that soundtrack (as well as play the game).

Let's not forget Zombies Ate My Neighbors. I think way back in the day I was able to record a bunch of those songs into a mix tape!

My favorite game, The Neverhood, also happens to have my favorite soundtrack. Three examples, for your listening pleasure. I have it on CD, and you should too.

Amiga games have a ton of awesome music.

The original PlayStation Wipeout games have fantastic original songs, mixed with equally good licensed music in the second and third ones. (One of the licensed tracks even had a Wipeout-themed music video!) There's also Wipeout 64, but the sampled cartridge music sounds crappy and plastic, unfortunately.

There are tons and tons more that I should mention, but I'm tired of putting together these links, so I'll just end with a page where you can get all of the music from Cave Story.
