The Legend of Zelda - The Symphony

Postby scotland » November 14th, 2016, 8:37 am

I was at a theater over the weekend and saw this on the marquee.

http://zelda-symphony.com/

Legend of Zelda Symphony of the Goddess, produced in part by Nintendo. Its a multimedia symphony of Legend of Zelda music. It seems like a full fledged symphony, with videos of the games playing overhead. Its not often appropriate to wear your Zelda t-shirt to a symphony, but here is the exception.

The program includes:
Interludes: Gerudo Valley / Boss Battle Medley / Tri-Force Heroes / A Link Between Worlds
Symphony: Creation of Hyrule / Ocarina of Time / Wind Waker / Twilight Princess / Time of the Falling Rain / FInale

One of the items for sale is sheet music as well (says Sold Out on website).
If this is up your musical alley, its halfway through its tour, but its still coming to Charleston, Houston, Milwaukee, Fresno, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Quebec City, San Jose, St. Petersburg, Fort Worth, Honolulu, and Oklahoma City.

In the debate over whether video games are (or could ever be) art, the discussion is seldom about the music. I think its clear that the music in video games certainly can be (and is) at the level of art.

I earned my geek stripes at a Zelda Symphony in Milwaukee a couple years ago. Let me tell you that it was one of the most amazing things I have ever been to. There's another one in Milwaukee this coming weekend, but I'm going to Indianapolis for the Colts/Titans game.
