So far, I have one:
http://ryangenno.tripod.com

This site has an awfully large game review database. He has pretty accurate reviews, in my opinion. What do you think? Also, do you know of any other recommended game review sites?

Sure the collection is large and the ebay links are nice but he must have ridiculous standards. Every B - A game here he gives ratings between 50 - 75. He says beauty and the beast for the intellivision is bad, finds that 1080 for the n64 is merely okay. He seems like a guy who hates games that are older than 5 years old. Even asteroids got mediocre reviews.

Not true, just check out his GOTM archive: http://ryangenno.tripod.com/sub_pages/GOTMindex.htm

The fact that he gives B - A games 50 - 75 could mean that he has higher expectations. One example is the Sonic series. I never found the first installment to be adequate enough to get an A.

You could say that the game was extremely popular during its initial release but in retrospect, it didn't fully deserve all of the attention. It wasn't until Sonic 2 and Adventure came along that the games became enjoyable and guess what?

He gave both of the antecedent games higher scores than the original game. Another thing I like about his site is that he reviews little known games too, like Quackshot for the GEN.

Anyways, look at his Ys: Book 1 & 2 review. He gave it a 9/10 for gameplay and the game is probably ten years old already. Contrarily, he awarded Link to the Past with 8/10 possibly because he didn't find to be as superior..

Other supposed retro classics that he gave high scores to include The Guardian Legend for the Nintendo and Chrono Trigger for the SNES. Now don't tell me that he doesn't respect old games.

So like I said before, maybe you should look at more of his favorites. The games he give high scores are usually a lot of fun. However, something I don't understand is how he regards camera angles as only a minor conflict.

The VGC might have been right when he was implying that the camera angles really threatened to ruin the overall experience so I'm a tad ambivalent over who to listen to as I'm not sure how much gameplay will be impacted.

Perhaps he just isn't looking at the game through rose colored glasses?  Are any of the classics worthy of the high praise they got back in the day now?  Not really, not by todays standards.

Yes, even by today's standards that game rocks -- no rose colored glasses needed.  Considering that is one of the Zelda games I didn't play until years after the initial release, I think I should know.  The only real judgement that matters is "is the game fun".  That game more than qualifies.

I realize you are in "obstinate teenage angst" mode, so I'll cut you some slack.  My only advice is to LISTEN to the wise words of Joycelyn Elders given over a decade ago.  It will relieve some pressure, and do you a world of good.  It may even make you less tiresome to be around.
