wondering what this game is...

I was wondering if someone could help me out... I can't remember a certain game I used to play when I was younger for either SNES or NES.

I'm not sure of the name of the game, but I remember the gameplay.

The object of the game was to acquire "continents" or "territories" by means of missiles and robots. You would build factories and missiles on your land and would launch them to enemies land. The robots (if you click on them) would fly over and destroy enemy factories and missiles. Their robots would also try to attack your robot.

The layout somewhat resembles the game MechWarrior (the earliest version.)

That would be Metal Marines. An awesome game that really needs a remake/sequel on the DS.

Oh, that game is....

I dunno, but it sounds fun.

Speaking of which, there was an arcade sci-fi tank game that featured two joysticks. Pulling them apart would point the tank up in an angle and your shots could catapult onto new areas. There were also places that you could run over that would shoot you up into the air hundreds of feets and you could shoot all around (like bombing) This game came out in the earlt 90's and was great. Anyone know what this was called? I want to buy it and rub up against it.

Funkmaster, the only arcade game I can think of that fits your description would be Assault which came out in 1988. There is an entry for it on Wikipedia you can look at to see if it's the game your looking for. Just do a search for Assault arcade game.

Funkmaster V.... the tank game you describe sounds a lot like VINDICATORS. Ring any tank sirens?

dam hargada, you are the man. It is Assault. That game was a friggin' blast... I think I played it one time.

Vinicators was a pretty unique game, but it always bored me after awhile. Assault was the sh*t tho

His description doesn't sound anything at all like Vindicators, but it sounds familiar to Assault on one of the Namco Museum disc for the PSX.

Well, I never played either in the arcade...it's ironic though because I still OWN assault (On Namco PSX disc), but not Vindicators (released for the NES) .... I just took a stab. It's funny how few REALLY GOOD tank games there have been, since TANK was the first video game to use microprocessors, and was immortilized in Atari's COMBAT. Assault is a good game but the controls always confused me (on the home PSX version).
