Tomba - PS1  this game is awesome, and may be the best side scrolling adventure game ever made, if not the only one

Oddworld  PS1 -  This game is underrated and awesome!!

Hitman Blood Money  Xbox 360-  This is the best stealth series of all time, I like it much more than Thief, Splinter Cell, or Metal Gear Solid.  Blood Money is probably the best of the bunch, so Critic should probably start out with it.   It is a lot of fun looking for new ways to take out your targets, and the ability to steal enemy costumes is probably the greatest feature in any game ever.  Also it is hillarious whenever people don't notice that the Asian guard you just killed has been replaced with a white bald guy with a barcode on the back of his head. I wonder if the critic has ever heard of this series?

Paper Mario 2 - Gamecube -  I know the critic doesn't like JRPGS very much, but this one is action packed and highly interesting.  It is completely different from the average RPG.

Smackdown Know your role -PS2   -  This is not a good game.  It is a horrible game.  You can block almost every single move, and the commentary is the worst commentary in any game I have ever played.  But the game is so broken, it is absolutely hillarious to play!

F-Zero GX  Gamecube-  This is the fastest racing game I ever played!

EVO  SNES -   An extremely rare game, I bet the critic would have a hard time finding it, but if he could, this is a really fun castlevania style side scroller with RPG elements.   Also it is Jerry Falwell's least favorite game because it is about evolution!

Whoops got my games confused!

I was thinking of this game, Smackdown Know your Role, not the other one.

Also I should say if critic gets Hitman Blood Money, he should play it in one of the harder difficulties.   The difficulty settings lie in all the Hitman games.  The normal mode is actually really easy, and you can just beat every level by shooting everyone.  The harder difficulty modes are the best, as they basically force you to use stealth, because you will probably die if you try to kill everyone in the level.    The second hardest difficulty mode, is probably  the true "normal" difficulty.  I played it in its hardest mode, but I like my games painful!

GBA: Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku 2.  I can only vouche for 2, and people here say 1 is crap, so don't get the wrong one.  It really is a fun enough little adventure RPG (very light on the RPG elements, as you level-up just by punching stuff).  The graphics are surprisingly good, the story is pretty decent, and the music is real solid.  If you're looking to put the GBA slot in your DS to work, you could do a lot worse.

I think that the Critic should give Parasite Eve (PS1) a shot.  Its an action RPG that is heavy on the action and light on the RPG.  If Resident Evil and Final Fantasy did the nasty while Dino Crisis taped the whole thing the end result would be Parasite Eve!

Its a beautiful game that I think he could easily get into...plus it doesn't take that long to beat.  It takes place in a snowy New York City and the plot could have been ripped straight from a B Sci-Fi flick.  I would love to hear his thoughts on this game.  Besides, who doesn't love blowing away mutant freaks with a machine gun toting hot blonde police officer?

Funny, the only thing I remember about that game was the shower scene with the hot blonde at the beginning.

Sega Genesis: Rocket Knight Adventures and Sparkster (which is the sequel to the former)
Is Sparkster any good? I had a pretty good time with the original, and it has been a while since I've purchased a Genesis game.
Sparkster is... not as good as the original.

They redrew the Possum character's sprites for the worse (he seems flatter and more stiffly animated), the level detail is slightly lesser, and there's fewer humorous quirks. The most noticeable detail is that while RKA was mildly cute, they made an overt attempt to make Sparkster "cool" (ala Sonic the Hedgehog.) On the bright side, the music is really good and the jetpack control is modified. Sparkster is probably worthwhile but it falls short of RKA here and there.
That does sound worse, but does it play the same? If it is still fun to play then I'll still buy it.
It plays similarly; not exactly the same. If you really wanted it for $5 or under you might find it worthwhile.

SHADOW RUN.

I saw the SNES version mentioned, and I have to recommend the Genesis version as well.  In my opinion it is the only successfull RPG on the genesis (actually, it may be the ONLY RPG on the genesis).  Also, I prefer the Sega version of Shadowrun over the SNES version.

The bottom line though: play Shadowrun.
