quick question about the genesis
Hey Critic, I just had a quick question about the genesis and the mega drive. I was wondering if the genesis could play mega drive games? I have heard that it does play some games but you just have to hack away at the plastic around the cartridge because they are different shapes. I have also heard there is a adaptor you can buy. Point me in the right path so I can start buying genesis games on ebay from Europe!

quick question about the genesis
a game genie will do the trick, rather than cutting away plastic

quick question about the genesis
I've played the odd Genesis title on my Mega Drive fine but don't know if it is the same the other way.

quick question about the genesis
I think it depends....all early mega drive/genesis games were absolutely IDENTICAL, and in fact there were tricks to make, say, Revenge Of Shinobi or Ghouls and Ghosts come up with the mega drive "japanese" text logos! Rather than file the cart you can use an adaptor or game genie OR simply remove the PC board from the plastic casing and stick it in. However, I recall reading that later on some mega drive games were released with region specicific lockouts. There must be a way around these too, but I don't know exactly how...I'm pretty sure a Mega Drive will play ALL Genesis software though.

Some PAL games can give you issues even with a 50/60mhz switch installed, but for the most part you won't have any big problems.
