Twilight Princess GC?
Also, for me, any word if TP or a TP like game is heading for the Nintendo DS? (and, how many "TP? You mean Toilet Paper" jokes are online by now, by the way?!)

Well the game was designed for the Gamecube, from the pre-Wii release press the impression most magazines seemed to have was that apart from the controller there weren't any main differences though obviously this isn't first hand experience. It has just been released in the UK. Personally I am getting (my long awaited) copy on the GC.

I realize that its only a single point, but the control scheme in the Wii verison is simply wonderful and it really adds to the experience...plus the game can run in 16x9. Those two things alone make me not agree with the scores they gave. I really don't care though because gamespot as a whole has gone downhill as of late. They seem to care more about their weekly "shows" and events than providing good journalism.

I disagree with you on Gamespot. They are one of the last bastions of good journalism. Jeff Gerstman actually said the Wii's controls didn't suite Zelda in his review and that they were detrimental to the game. I find his reviews to be very reliable.

I flat out disagree with that. Though I don't think the Wii controls transform the game or anything, they make sense and work fine. They do improve the game when you use them to work the slingshot, arrows, hookshot etc. as it allows precise aim.
Truthfully, you are probably fine sticking with the GC version, but I don't think the Wii hurts TP at all.

He did NOT say they were "detrimental to the game". He said they were good, but felt tacked on. He said at times they were imprecise. He makes the claim that it's too easy to defeat enemies with them. In fact, he sort of contradicts himself. In the Wii review, he says that he wishes he could just press a button sometimes and avoid the motion sensing, but in the GC review, he actually said the Wii controls worked out slighty better than the traditional controls via the Gamecube game.
I am sure there's an explanation somewhere for why he wouldn't see that as a contradiction, but I certainly don't see any such explanation in the review.
Anyway, having played the Wii game through to completion and having started playing the GC version yesterday, I think the Wii controls are a HUGE improvement. That's not to say the GC controls are bad, as they aren't bad at all. They operate almost exactly like they did with "Wind Waker" and the port of "Ocarina of Time" on the Gamecube. But the Wii controls are simply an improvement. Once you get used to how to use them, they are very precise and at least in my case, I don't like the feeling of going back and playing the same game without them.

[QUOTE=JustLikeHeaven]Well if it means anything Gamespot actually gave the GC version a better score than the Wii version. The Wii was given an 8.8 and the the GC game scored a 8.9.

Jeff's score differences comes from the "Sound" category. He gave the Gamecube version one point higher in sound because he perceives that MIDI is more common on the Gamecube. On the Wii version, his main complaint is that they didn't have an orchestral score, which he touts as the new standard, and he complains about the lack of voice work in the game.
I think his scores on Graphics and Sound are pretty much spot-on. There's not much reason to dispute them. It's the scores in Gameplay and Value that I have a real problem with.

I can tell you that having played a Zelda game on the Cube (Wind Waker) and Twilight Princess on Wii the Wii controls are actually much better. Aiming with the arrow is easier than it has ever been before, and shaking the remote to use the sword makes is suprisingly natural (I suppose this aspect is neither better nor worse than pressing a button, but it is certainly not detrimental to the controls). Spin attacks benefit the most from the Wii controls; I'll take a quick shake of my left hand over charging a button any day.
The controls are better on Wii, and 16X9 widescreen is also nice, but I see no reason why the game wouldn't still be great on the Gamecube. As a side note, I just finished it, and I think it is too short. That's saying quite a bit considering I beat it in just under 45 hours.
Also, response to your question about a Twilight Princess for DS: no there is not going to be a TP for the DS, but a Zelda is coming to the DS soon. It is called the Phantom Hourglass, it uses Wind Waker style graphics, and it is controlled with the stylus (I believe D-pad moves, stylus does the rest).

Nope... from what I understand, it is controlled entirely by the stylus, including controlling Link's movements.
