Sony systems take a year

I wasn't suggesting that there were A+ titles. Can you or anybody else honestly tell me any system has more then two or three A+ titles released each year? Heck, for the 360 I can only think of two. Anyway, it's your opinion and you are entitled to it.

Shawn there was a ton of padding on that list, infected?  I'm very close to buying one too (kill zone and metal gear) so let's not spout "fanboy this and fanboy that".  But come on, pursuit force?

I guess we consider stuff differently. A game that I and many reviewers consider worthy of a B would never be called great. I reserve that for those A+ titles. Some of those games you listed are C+ material at best imo.

Sony systems take a year

Hey here's a crazy idea: did anyone ever think maybe the PS3 isn't going to "take a year", but maybe it will just completely suck permanately?  Just an idea.

Only a idiot would think that though, considering Sony's previous two consoles and the fact that the system will see games made by the same developers making Wii and Xbox 360 games for the most part.

[QUOTE=The Video Game Critic]

The PS2 took a little slower to come up to speed, but they had the market in their back pocket from day one.

If you're referring to the quality of games, I think it gradually increases over the life of a console, until the next generation is announced.

You are correct...Sony did have the market in their back pocket from day one, but I guess I should have specified what I meant with "hitting its stride."

When I say it took the PS2 a while to hit its stride I am saying that it took a while for the quality, must have, system selling software to come out.  Sure they had a few gems come out here and there, but the first year of gaming on the PS2 was pretty bleak overall.  After about a year in a half, quality games came out in bunches and Sony never looked back.

Say what you will but I enjoyed Pursuit Force and it got good reviews on most sites. The VGC's review is a little off but that said I don't think a C+ is a terrible game. To each is own I guess and I never called anybody a fanboy (at least not on this thread).

I don't think a C+ game is terrible either, I just wouldn't toss them into a list I'm using as examples of "great" games.

"I can't figure out people who say this about the psp? What are you waiting for? I just don't get it. There are plenty of great games out there."

Nice list man!  Most of these are games that I really wanted to try, but I the system lacked that killer app that made NEED it.  Well Metal Gear Portable Ops changed all that and after xmas I will be getting me a PSP.  I will probably pick up Killzone and Infected along with Metal Gear.

I am one of the biggest supporters of the DS, and even I'm pleasantly surprised with the great year the PSP had.  Stop hating on it...Sony screwed up its portable system for about a year...but they have gotten their act together.  The system may never topple the DS for the throne, but its become a respectable portable gaming system in my eyes.

Plus the future looks bright for the PSP as well...I can't wait for Ratchet and Clank and they are remaking one of my favorite PS1 games: Final Fantasy Tactics!  If Sony dropped the price to like $179 I bet it would be even more competitive with the DS.

I suppose I'm more forgiving when it comes to consoles. I consider the "launch window" more than the launch; are you giving me compelling content within 6 months of launch or do you make me wait forever? I remember this mostly from my N64 experience, having pre-ordered a year ahead only to still be playing Mario64 and Pilotwings 6 months later (even then there were only a scant few titles like Turok, Killer Instinct and Cruisin' USA around, which were decent but not great).

Actually, I think I'll start a new post on this...
