Polygon article asking who wants this thing, and why is an internationally known brand selling through crowdfunding anyway? Answer: its a cheap way to test the water of interest.

This has absolutely nothing going for it except the Atari name and a retro design. It will fail horribly.
If they were smart, they would have made it a cartridge-based system. Even if it's not a hit gamers of today really love to collect stuff. Look at the Amiibos.

A cartridge-based system would cost too much to support; they'd have to develop actual games.
They can make a few of these to satisfy their preorders, then drop it & let folks load freeware onto it.

We are in agreement. I had to laugh there was a link saying here are the games coming out for it. It is not going to be retro and then the games were the atari flashback games. I was like how many more times can these scammers released the 2600 games and the arcade games from 40 years ago and say they are new?
Anyone who buys this for more for $30 is a mug.
