With Rocky Balboa coming out yesterday, I would like to hear everyone's opinion on these movies.

Rocky 1=Great, classic!

Rocky 2=decent follow up

Rocky 3=Thunderlips!!

Rocky 4="I must break you(best line in an otherwise cheesy movie....wait,

even that line was cheesy!!)"

Rocky 5=Would have made a great SNL parody MOCKING the Rocky movies but instead....became a Rocky movie.:-(

Rocky Balboa=Actually sort of interested in seeing it, to be honest(I've actually heard good things about it!)

I like sly Stallone, though more so in Rambo (especially First Blood) .... I only saw the first two rockies, and the one with the russian "jou vill loosse!" guy (4?) ...I like #2 with Clubber Lang, Mr. T, the best.

Anybody here play the Colecovision Rocky Game? I have most CV games but since I don't like sports I never got the special "sword handle" controllers (though I got FRONT LINE and learned to play it with the standard control pad buttons).... if so, anybody like it?

Was THAT or SMS the better ROCKY game?

I think Shagfu's summary is right on. It was cheasy but I loved Rocky IV. Any time you can stick it to those dirty commies is a good thing.

Thanks Shawn. The Rocky movies, while uplifting movies when I was at the peak of my fitness days(if you can call it that), they have aged horribly, they are poorly written, and they come off more as unintentional humor(gasp!!). They can be good fun, though.

Good point Shaqfu!  While I still enjoy watching them it does result in tons of unintentional humor.

In the first Rocky movie when Sly is trying to seduce Adrianne its borderline creepy and actually pretty hilarious.  He justs kind of grunts and and shows off his guns while she tries to resist him.  Its supposed to be a serious scene, but when I watch it with my buddies it comes across as pretty damn funny...

I love the scene in the third one when Mr. T. interupts Rocky's press conference and starts hitting on his wife...

"Hey Woman!"

"Hey Woman!"

"I'll show you a real man!"

I love it, classic stuff!

Worst Rocky Moment : Rocky 3

Rocky and Apollo Race in slo-mo on the beach, Rocky finally BEATS Apollo, he is  back, yay! Let's celebrate by wading knee deep in the ocean in our short shorts and hug each other over and over. Queer Eye of the Tiger.

Interesting takes on the movies. I just got back from seeing Rocky Balboa, which I thought was the most well written Rocky since the first one. Tremendous, you should all see it if you haven't yet.

Say what you will about "Rocky", but it did for boxing what "Moby Dick" did for whaling... totally mythologized it. You can barely think of boxing and heroic underdogs without the Rocky movies coming to mind.
