Now, that we're talking about reviews, I was wondering whether Colony Wars for the PSX is worth purchasing?

Lately I've been feeling like reading reviews, opinions, etc. about games takes a little excitement out of buying a new game. For instance, before I buy a game, I can know everything good, bad, and whatever else about it. Don't get me wrong, it's very useful, and cost efficient I suppose....but kinda like knowing what your Christmas present is before you get it--this happened to me once, and I've always considered it my least fun Christmas.
Anyone else?

I think, for me, the reviews that are the trickiest are the reviews that are around the "C" level to maybe "B." They could suck.... but they could be okay... or maybe even great.
I've played games that have gotten reviewed at this tricky level that I really enjoyed the heck out of (like that Indiana Jones game for the Xbox). There have been times when I got burned on a piece of trash also.

Voor...I feel the way you do about reviews spoiling the surprise of a game. If I am ABSOLUTELY 100% sure I am going to buy a game, I don't read the reviews till AFTER (Warioware, New Super Mario Bros. ..) ; only if I am uncertain about blowing $35-50 do I read the review first. New SMB was a no-brainer. Princess Peach I'm THINKING of getting, but it got some good and some bad scores so I read it first...I still am thinking of getting it if only because there are so few SMB-like games on DS that I don't have!

About the grades, many games wind up being mainly C to B+ games. It is sort of wierd to have a game that you like get like a bad grade. It would be good for someone to at least have some video reviews of their game collections

1) Well OF COURSE. Few games are considered A material, regardless of system, while most games fall in the C-to-B range.
2) C is not a "bad" grade. It means average, or 50%.
