So I beat Twilight Princess and...
*Spoilers*
Ganon was a real letdown. He feels tacked on and the game uses him as an explanation for most of the plot (he's behind everything!). His appearance would not bug me that much if they had done something more with his character then just evil, crazy mastermind. I personally think Ganon was at his best in Wind Waker, where he had a double (the king), and was portrayed as a complex and even sympathetic villain.
Wind Waker had a certain dark, melancholy atmosphere where everything felt both old and new at the same time. All the generations of fighting over the godlike powers of the triforce have left the world broken and in ruin. I especially love the kings last words to Link and Zelda, essentially telling them both that he is sorry for the way things have turned out and even suggests that there might never have been any other outcome possible. It doesn't get any darker then that (at least in a zelda game).
I bought Wind Waker, but couldn't play it more than 30 mins due to its total kiddie presentation. I tried, but it drove me nuts.
Tsk tsk. That games beautiful, and has great dungeons. You're missing out.
