Hi all-

I played and liked Wind Waker a good bit - more than most, apparently. I thought the graphics style was appropriate. Most commentators seem to feel the newest Zelda is the best. What are your thoughts?

I'm only a few hours in, but this game is much more what I wanted so far than Wind Waker was. The graphic style didn't bother me in Wind Waker except for a few characters like Link, but I felt a lot of the story was awful and several things got tedious quickly like watching Link direct songs to change wind and such, as well as the sailing and triforce shards hunt.

Both are great games, but Wind Waker lacked the perfection I've came to expect from Zelda titles.

Believe it or not, I (and especially my wife) liked Wind Waker so much that they are pretty much tied right now, but I am only in the Lakebed Temple right now.  So we will see.

I can't comment on TP quite yet, as I do not yet have it, (but am pretty sure it's under the Christmas tree.)

As far as WW goes that came got far to much superfical criticism. My biggest complaint of that game is that when you are  in your boat sailing, you can't do anything else at the same time. Pull out the cannon, the sail drops and you stop. Ditto for the grappling hook. Imagine if you could have done some troll fishing on the high seas as you went from stop to stop. That would have been the perfect way to include the (almost) obligatory Zelda fishing minigame. And if you could have thrown a harpoon through the eye of a great, cel-shaded whale, well, that would have been incredible.

Even though Wind Waker was my least favorite Zelda game, I still thought it was well beyond what most other action-adventure/action-RPG games are capable of.  Having said that, Twilight Princess trumps it -- hands down!

I like the controls much better on the Wii, but the games are great on both platforms.

I thought that Wind Waker was prettier for the most part. The exception being the tunnel you fly through with the dog in Twilight Princess (you know it when you see it; it's beautiful). I have to say that they are really close (I'm also one of the few that loved WW), but Twilight Princess wins. Mostly because riding Epona is so much better than sailing.

I LOVED having full control of the camera with the C-stick in WW.  Alot of people seem to hate it, but I miss it now when I play other zelda games.  I just got so good and fluid at it that it became a real asset.

Does anyone know anything about the DS Zelda game that comes out next year?  Is it similar to WW?

So far, I'm almost finished with Twilight Princess (I'm at Hyrule castle about to beat Ganon). I've played about halfway into Wind Waker and Twilight Princes is in my opinion the better of the two. I like Twilight Princess' story more because of the larger depth to the storyline that was given and the setting to me is better (large fields, mountains, lake, forests, towns, Twilight, and a castle to explore). As far as I'm at in Wind Waker, there are mainly just large islands, and towns, but a fun ocean to explore as well.

It takes place after Wind Waker (in the same timeline), and thus has the same Link and the same artistic style.  However -- it's played entirely with the stylus -- EVEN in controlling Link.

Personally, I am looking forward to that.  I've played at least one other game where the character was controlled by the stylus and it worked out really well.
