After the recent Nintendo Direct video announcing new wave of Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighters and considering one of the most requested joke license character is SpongeBob SquarePants for Smash Bros. I came up with the perfect alternative,Tak from Tak and the Power of Juju for the following reasons.

1. The closest thing to a THQ rep in Smash Bros. as that company has a long Nintendo history as far as western companies go.

2.It to troll people for wanting SpongeBob SquarePants in Smash Bros. as Nickelodeon co-owns the character.

3 It adds another western dev character, and the fact old THQ published GBA Rare developed games like Banjo so together at last!

4. Tak was basically THQ later THQ Nordic unofficial mascot it has good reasons to be in Smash Bros.

Quest 64 by THQ for the N64 was an RPG that I was really stoked about, and boy oh boy was it a stinker. I kept trying to like it but never happened. For some reason every time I see THQ I think of that crummy game.

Actually, Quest 64 is Imagineer iP that THQ published, but given that Imagineer is still around doing Switch games they may bring it back sad face!

Actually, Quest 64 is Imagineer iP that THQ published, but given that Imagineer is still around doing Switch games they may bring it back sad face!


I have a hard time remembering what THQ developed themselves and what they just published... the list of the latter is easier to remember, sadly.

I understand as they have more published games then self developed from owned/or bought studios.

It could do JRPGs, the issue was the trend towards FMVs and voice acting (the TurboCD being the first, then PSX just before N64). Also, the N64 was optimized for 3D, not 2D.

Remember, FFVII was originally an N64 project before Square broke with Nintendo.

This explains why many PS1/Sega Saturn games did no get N64 versions?

Cost being the big issue. RPGs consume lots of dats for dialog alone, and even in the SNES days the character limits were being felt (especially outside of Japan, see Chrono Trigger). Cart memory prices were not as attractive as CD prices, and you got more storage per dollar.

Another lost N64 RPG, Mother 3, is an example of what might have been. Also, CD games could compress to N64 if the publisher felt enough profits would warrant it - see Resident Evil 2 64.

And do remember, RPGs were still a very niche market in the late 90s, and not guaranteed to bring in high dollars.
