I'm starting to think Fall is the best time of year for gaming, and here are some reasons:
- colder and darker = less guilty about staying indoors
- a lot of sports starting up, great if you enjoy sports games
- plenty of holidays so you can take some time off to play
- most of the new games come out in the Fall
- Halloween games
What do you think?

I enjoy being outside in the Fall, if I can. For me, give me the dark of Winter evenings.

I definately agree with you. I don't play much in the summer as I'm usually outside in the evenings playing with the kids, having a beer on the back deck, playing tennis, etc.
But now, the cool, dark evenings means it's time to hunker down in the basement playing a game!

Re: Best Time of the Year for Gaming?
Personally my most prolific time of the year for gaming has always been late winter, February - March.
I don't know why but I just took a look at the list of games I play every year (I have been writing them down in an excel file for more than a decade now) and Feb-Mar seems to be the time of the year when I play the most. Guess life slows down a bit during that time. On the other hand, April and May seem to be the absolute worst months for gaming. That's either because I overdose in Feb-Mar or because the amount of stuff I have to do magically triples.

I vote for winter. There's nothing better when snowed out of work/school than kicking back in a cozy room with a console (provided the power doesn't go out.)

Winter, because it's too cold to get outside.
Summer, because it's way too hot to get outside.
Autumn, because it's too wet outside.
Spring, because everything is in bloom and that causes allergic reactions, so best to stay indoor.
