I completely agree. What was up with the tank in Batman Begins. Plus, I hate origins movies. The scene in Batman Returns where he blows up the guy with the dynamite (along with a little grin) was the coolest thing ever; I hated how there were no fight scenes in the new one.
He fought Ra's Al-Ghul at the beginning if you remember, and a whole host of Ninjas.  And he fought Ra's Al-Ghul again at the end.

On another line of thought, I was glad that they left out all that mystical BS about Ra's Al-Ghul and made him into an evil idealist Ninja.
He fought but there were no "fight scenes". Most of the time it was just him in the shadows.

I wouldn't recommend Batman Begins or the sequals then, they are very dark.
Batman Returns was darker than Batman Begins. And better, just for the record.

I still think batman begins sucked, I thought bale did an awful job as batman.  Al gul was just a lame guy to pick as the big bad guy.  And katie girl made me cringe, "You're mad at the people who killed your parents you evil SOB!".

You've opened the door for me to say it, too. It was much worse than the first 2 Batman movies. Ooh, whispering. I'm so scared Batman. I don't need to know where the Batmobile came from. It's a boring story and nobody cares.

I think what you are trying to say is that there are fewer fight scenes with him *as* Batman.  It has to be -- because there certainly is no famine of fight scenes in Batman.

I'll go on record here.  I think Batman Begins was only the second of the Batman movies I really enjoyed.  The first was the original Burtman Batman with Nicholson as Joker.

I do actually like origin stories, as long as they are done well.  Batman Begins was different slightly from the origins in the comic books, but it was a good compromise between the exotic comic book thread for his origins and believability.

At least Batman's parents weren't killed by the Joker in this one.  That was retarded.  You're supposed to realize that Gotham city, and mindless crime generally, killed Batman's parents, not someone who would go on to become a super villian.  Bad enough to have a guy dressed like a bat chase a guy dressed like a clown, but to say that by coincidence the clown guy killed the bat guys parents and was then pursued by him into a tank of stuff that turned him into the clown thing 20 years later is just silly.

Origin stories are good if a movie doesn't have 1000 of them.  That was the later movies' problem (and, I predict, a problem for the upcoming Spiderman versus everyone movie).  Also, if the origin story is totally stupid, it can hurt an otherwise good movie.  The only big problem with Returns is that they changed the Penguin too much.  He was raised by penguins in the sewer, and yet this fish eating, ill mannered, fat, ugly, mutant managed to convince a whole city to vote for him?  Right.  You couldn't convince half the population to vote for a woman or a minority, let alone a mutant raised by flightless birds in a sewer.  He wasn't even smart.  The entrpeneurial genius Penguin from the comics however you could have put into that story, or even a smart mutant.

The Penguin was manipulative (saved a baby). I think the movie did a fine job showing how he could get a city to vote for him. Also, the Joker killing Batman's parents was dumb, but it didn't ruin the movie. Besides, Jack Nicholsen was great.

The Penguin is the main reason I didn't like B:returns, and the silly Catwoman. I was born in the late 60's and remember seeing reruns of the old Batman TV show. As dumb and stupid as that show was, Burgess Meridith made a much better Penguin, at least he was smart and really LOOKED like the Penguin, and the Catwoman on the show was far sexier. The one in the movie looked like a bad S&M player.

As far as voting for someone dumb, stupid & silly....
people do it all the time if you believe democracy works
(though personally I believe he/she with money and power
wins the race, not who gets VOTED for...just my view of this
distorted crazy world....)
