Yeah that's the way it should be -- those are the rare A / A+ games right there. I wish the mainstream critics saw it that way, instead of giving 9.5's and 10's to games that are technically excellent, with no glaring flaws at all, but that lack that rare ability to make you want to keep playing non-stop. Like you, it's very few games that can do that for me these days.
