When will The VGC get a Wii?

I haven't actually seen any Nintendo Wiis in stores myself (besides the one I waited in line for), but I have seen a couple of PS3s.  I think by March both systems will be easier to find.

As for the lineup, I think that Shawn is right...The Wii is looking good if you want all your Nintendo Franchises (which I don't mind), but the 3rd party stuff is looking weak.

With the runaway success that the Wii has been I expect there to be many more new games announced for the system in the upcoming months.  Nintendo was able to push about 4 million units worldwide and by spring time they are expected to be anywhere from 7-11 million.  Thats almost half of the total gamecubes that were sold.  When you have a large install base, 3rd party software follows.  If things continue it should be a better year for Nintendo than people are used to.

JLH makes a great point, something I didn't think of. I am not sure how many GC's were sold (30 million, not sure) but if the Wii continues to sell well that should garner more interest from 3rd party developers. Like I said elsewhere, if more games come out like Madden which makes great use of the controller with good gameplay then maybe I'll grab a Wii. But I need to see more then big N franchises to put me completely over the edge.

Oh, of course, Shawn. The GC actually only sold 15 or 16 million! If the Wii sells through the roof then third party companies will take notice. Of course third party support is extremely weak because, frankly, third party titles sold abysmally on the small purple box! I don't believe that because the 360 and ps3 are the more powerful systems that they will automatically be #1, 2. I mean, ps2 was not the powerhouse that the original xbox was but still absolutely crushed it! I know I knock the ps2 around alot but it really did have the lion's share of games and, honestly, had a little something for everyone. This is what hurt GC and I hope they remedy this with the Wii. When you think of the GC, what genres was it sorely missing?

1). Fighting games(Apart from Soul Caliber 2, Naruto, MK, and that horrible

Street Fighter Vs. SNK: Neo, what was there)

2). RPGS(Tales of Symphonia, Baton Katos 1 and 2, Paper Mario 2, Phantasy Star Online are the only ones I can remember)

There are more genres that were sorely lacking on GC but these two were the most absent, to me. I'm sorry, but the Wii is going nowhere if those two genres aren't properly represented then it is in real trouble! It doesn't matter if the ps3 is $600 or $300 or whatever, if it has the support of all the third party companies then they will be at least in the top two. Personally, I think all of the analysts(blech!) are on crack-cocaine for assuming the ps3 will sell 100 million units! I mean, it's going to take the ps3 at least three to four years to even come close to a $300 price point! I think, at most, ps3 could sell 45-60 million. Nobody thought the n64 was going to be the beginning of the end for the nintendo that was and entrance for the nintendo that is. I love Nintendo's franchises, but I would like to see more on the system than that! So, here's to hoping that the Wii sells through the roof. I don't want Sony or MS crushed but I would like Nintendo to stay in the battle.

I'm seeing PS3's much more now. After I bought one at Best Buy a couple nights ago, I have since seen them at Walmart and Target. I think I read somewhere (hopefully it wasn't on this site) that 10% of all PS3s shipped by Sony ended up on eBay.

Oddly enough, I haven't seen a single Wii other than mine, but I saw a PS3 in Best Buy. As for PS3s being sold on Ebay they go for about MSRP now, while Wiis are still going for $350.00 or more.

I think right now it is about the price and timing. $600 is a big chunk of cash to be throwing down right after the holidays. I am grabbing a PS3 shortly but won't take money out of savings to get it...so I'll keep putting a few bucks away until I want to grab one. I have seen a few here and there, if the VGC wants a PS3 then he should be able to grab one.
