Just hoping to clear up some confusion, the new Rayman Raving Rabbids, it's listed under the platformer category everywhere I go, but when I see screenshots, it looks like a party mini game type.  Anyone play it yet and saw how platformer it is?

It's a party game for sure, not a platformer.

That doesn't make sense though, why would a consistantly good platformer game pump out a party game ignoring what they're best at....

It makes sense if you buy it for the Wii...It is more a less a glorified tech demo of what can be done with the controller.  Fact is its also best party games I have ever played.  The Rabbids are the most comedic villians to ever grace a game.  I have yet to meet one person who hasn't fallen for their idiotic insane charm.

If you have a Wii and you enjoy a laugh with friends, buy or rent this game.  Its an absolute riot.

Rayman will most certainly becoming out with another platformer at some time and you can certainly expect the Rabbids to show up again at some point too.

Because evidently what people really want is to spin and jump around.  Cause you know we dont have enough mini game compilations.

It makes as much sense as Mario Party or Sonic Shuffle.  It's just a traditional platforming character hosting his own party game.

Soon, we might see Bonk's Amazing Dinosaur Stomach Funland.

The game was also a party game on the PS2.

I just wanted to add that I played RRR last night for a few hours and its essential to have people over to enjoy it.  As a single player game its very lackluster, but when you get a few people in the room its a blast.

The Rabbids are so damn funny its hard not to crack a smile at them...but you will also bust a gut watching your friends performing the Wii remote actions.

I think a mini-game compilation like this works better on the Wii than any other system.  Sure waving your arms might seem stupid, but who cares when you are having fun doing it?

And now young padawan you understand how all things change with time.  Once all the games I played were score based, and I was happy.  Then, most were my favorite genre-- 2D platformers-- and I was happy.  Then the FPS genre took hold, and slowly more and more of these games came out.  At first I didn't mind, but then the FPS (a genre I like some games in, but am not a fan of generally) began to get all the attention and score based games and platformers fell way back to almost non-existent.
Now, with average gamers being older and with little free time, you see the growing popularity of quick party games centred around minigames.  Once all party games start to be online you may see a shift to where you are the old man screaming about better days before this new genre came and ruined it all on you.  Look at the sales of Brain Age, look how Nintendo manages to keep selling Mario Party games, look at Rayman RR, Warioware, etc and tell me that genre isn't busting out.

I think he's saying we have alot...and we do....as long as they do them well I guess I'm cool with it.  It's when you have knock offs that don't try hard enough like the cartoon network ones and so forth that just don't deliver.  Although from what I understand the Hamtaro games however kiddy are fun...who'd have thought?
