VGC, have you ever watched The Simpsons? It is a great show and has been here since 1987 (show version in 1989). It was reasonable to have Fox get some game companies make games for their beloved show. It first started with an arcade hit in 1991. Then console games came for Nintendo and Sega. That started with plenty of games being failures. Then Electronic Arts makes Road Rage which is similar to Crazy Taxi. In 2003 Hit and Run was made which was like GTA. VGC, the Hit and Run game is not bad. I saw your Xbox review but I have the PS2 version. You said at least GTA lets you kill a person. If the Simpsons had killing, it would have been bad and poor reception or even bad ratings for the game and show and would have had the show cancelled. Show some Simpson reviews from NES, Master System (Master System imports of Simpsons games), Genesis, Game Gear, Game Boy, and SNES please. I am a big fan of the show and have seen hardly any Simpson reviews

In defense of the VGC, there really AREN'T many good Simpsons games. I've asked many people, and the only two Simpsons games that get mentioned as "good" are the arcade game and Krustys Fun House (A lemmings type puzzler)....

Although I thought The Simpsons were Hilarious, relevant and Topical at first, the show for me bacame overly cliched and well, just BORING after the first four seasons. Thank Heavens FAMILY GUY came on, which in my mind beats SIMPSONS any day, year, month or nanosecond! Stewie and Brian are especially hillarious. At the time Family Guy came out, we did not get the "South Park" station, but I've since fallen in love with the SP movie and gotten several sesons on DVD. SP is Gross to be sure and not for everyone, but I find it funny.

On a related (cartoon) note, a while ago someone here pointed out the videogame themed strips running in FOXTROT... I was very sad to find out that FOXTROT is ending it's lonnnng run this year. No more Jason and Quincy....life has lost all meaning for me. ):

The NES Simpsons games are pretty bad. I remember the Genesis game Virtual Bart being okay, though. The best Simpsons game is the arcade side scrolling beat-em-up.

Alienblue, Family Guy is stupid. It borrows anything that the Simpsons done. I like Hit and Run. Homer is funnier than the Family Guy father. The Simpson kids are better. They do fun things, cause trouble, and do the insane things like Maggie shooting old Mr. Burns and that is what a family should have. Family Guy kids, well... they are not fun. They are basically a bunch of stupid losers. I live in Upstate New York, and the Griffin father said that the New York teams suck. At least Family Guy got cancelled but got revived. There is plenty of people in The Simpsons, including, Moe, Dr. Hibbert, Smithers, the cops, Snake, Apu, Skinner, and others. Family Guy, on the other hand, dont have a lot of townspeople. The Simpsons is the best cartoon ever made. This season had some ratings that had even beaten Family Guy. SIMPSONS rule!

Bartman, that's fine, you can Love the Simpsons and watch it all you want. To be honest, I gave up on it after season four, I haven't seen any of the recent episodes as I don't have cable.
FAMILY GUY is NOT a Simpsons rip-off, though, and the fathers name is PETER. In simpsons, Maggie is just a normal baby. STEWIE the baby is an evil genius who plots to kill his mother. In Simpsons Santas little helper is just an anoerexic dog. Brian the dog is smarter than most of the family and an alcoholic. The main theme of the show is making fun of Pop Culture and popular music / movies / Tv shows. It never has a moral, purposely ("I guess you learned something then!"..."Naw, I didn't!"), it isn't meant to be loveable or have meaningful stuff, it is just FUNNY! It was so good they cancelled it and not only brought it back but made a DVD movie and two books already! FG RULEZ! "E-HEHEHHEHEHEHEH!"

Bartman Meets Radioactive Man is half-decent, and the only really playable game aside from the arcade game. Be aware that the first level of Bartman is horribly boring and made me turn the game of in disgust the first time I played it. It's the polar opposite of Bart VS The Space Mutants, where the first stage showed promise but failed to deliver, and the remaining stages didn't even attempt at anything halfway interesting.

Yeah, the Simpsons started to go downhill in the 7th season and hasn't been that good at all since the 8th season.  It used to be my favorite show, but now it's just painful to watch.

You know what Alienblue, BOO YOU! Family Guy sucks. Peter is much more lazier than Homer. There is too many flashbacks that interrupt the plot. The plots are just stupid. Even then, both Family Guy and the Simpsons have made fun of each other since 2000. Simpsons episode: Missionary: Impossible Someone did not want Family Guy on. 2002 or 03 Treehouse of Horror: One of the Homer clones is Peter. Family Guy making fun of the Simpsons: Mother Tucker, there is a flashback of commericials the Simpsons did in the 1990s, only with Brian (butthead) and Stewie being like Bart. The next one I think: Peterotica: The Griffins look like the way the Simpsons were when The Simpsons were a series of shorts. The last one: PTV. Stewie rides his bike (A.K.A. The Naked Gun In one part he runs over Homer. That may be a plagarising thing for that 1998 Treehouse of Horror.

Wow... being trained as an animator I think I should give my 2 cents on the whole Simpsons/Family Guy thing. Or maybe I should just stay out of it.... naw what fun would that be?

My personal opinion on the two shows is that they rely entirely on the writers. At this point they are both tired and probably should be canceled. Both shows aren't nearly as fresh as they were when they started. They also both suffer from boring animation and boring backgrounds. Simpsons/Family Guy/South Park = Bad Animation. This was not the case entirely with the Simpsons early on but as of late it is. Just as a piece of trivia the Simpsons is no longer drawn its all boring stiff 3D animation. Not that all 3d animation is stiff and boring but this is...

I loved both of these shows in their prime but they are both past it in my opinion. Even if Family Guy is a rip off of the Simpsons... the Simpsons is a rip off of the Flintstones which is a rip off of the Honeymooners. The copy cat argument is weak at best and besides imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Oh and the best cartoons ever were made long before television was around. Check out some old Looney Tunes or MGM cartoons.

Anyways most Simpsons games are shallow or just plain bad. Sure there are a few gems in there but most of them really aren't worth playing. The critic did do a review of the Family Guy game though so maybe he should show the Simpsons some love too.
