My impressions of Resistance: FoM so far...

Postby m0zart1 » January 10th, 2007, 1:34 pm
Shawn my minimum week is 40 hours.  That is the least number of hours I have worked in my whole life and I am loving it.  For the past 11 years I worked nearly every evening and day.  When I was at uni I never had a day off work apart from two over xmas and one on my birthday from october through to june.  This year I spent a month where I worked 91 hour weeks for 5 weeks straight and that doesn't include travelling or anything where I revised in my head.  While at uni I barely ever had more than 2 hours freetime a day.  But feel free to steroetype a whole continent.

40+ can be a lot if you have other direct responsibilities.  Family alone can be one of the most harrowing.

My work week comes out between 70 and 90 hours a week (thankfully, it's rarely 90).  That's as much as I can stand to be honest without breaking down.  But if I had a family like so many of my friends do, I'd never be able to pull it off.  I'd have to cut it off at 50 at the most, and try to average it in at 45.  Kids and family in general are quite demanding.
youre not missing much, just imagine the most obnoxious know-it-all 15 year old brat and multiply him by a few hundred thousand and you have xbox live. win or lose, youll enjoy an endless string of profanities and insults. and if youre lucky, youll get to see some corpse humping

good times
And the award for person who has the least idea what they are talking about goes to.....Chrisbid congrats!  News flash you can pick and chose who you play with.  If you don't want to play with racist 12 year olds then don't.

Yeah especially since you can mute anyone on Live.

I am interested in what the critic's review of Gears will be like given that the single player really is only half the game.  By the way has anyone tried the two new maps they released?  I think Raven Down is really good looking and makes for a nice deathmatch feel but Old Bones is pure class.

40+ hours not alot? It's too dam much time to spend away from your family and passions. I hate work, to hell with it. I have a great job but I resent the fact that all Americans are rooked into this 40 hour work week. Plus Dave works near Baltimore. Screw LA and Atlanta, beltway traffic is the worst. It probably takes him an hour to get home at night, plus an hour in and an hour at lunch.... 11 hours a day not much? Screw that crap.

Ugh...

Cousin Vinnie

What's a Uni? I used to work a ton of hours (65+) but now I work about 45 and make a ton more money. It's all about working smarter or working for a better company. Most Euro's that I know are from France and they hardly work at all. Of course, maybe they would work if their sorry ass society had jobs...socialism is SUCH a good thing. Ha!

Haven't tried the new maps but will soon.

Uni is university.  And again for 7 years of my life when I was at school and college when I worked all day at school, all evening and most weekends (that's what happens at good schools/colleges) my commute was 1 hour 30 minutes each way (3 mile walk and then 2 buses each way).

Monkey did you walk backwards both ways through a blinding snowstorm to get to school? Seven years? Are you a Doctor?

We all have "hard work" stories. I spent years in the Army, got my degree and finally I know have a job where I am not working 70 hours a week and love it. It is good pay and I get to enjoy life. There is nothing wrong with that!

That's my whole point Shawn, is that 41+ hours isn't much.  We all work those kinds of hours and really isn't a reason not to get Live.

Now I get what you are saying and I agree with you. Has anybody checked out the new Gears maps? I was too busy playing Ms. Pac Man last night and Oblivion to check it ou!

Depending on how family life is, 41+ hours in combination with family can certainly be a reason not to get Live.

Though, to be completely honest, any reason someone can muster is a good enough reason not to get Live.  Such reasons would be in the variety of extremes in any category such as "I just can't" to "I just don't wanna".
