How is the PS3 twice the cost of a 360? After you throw in the wireless capabilities and the online cost the 360 is $550. Of course, I think the 360 comes with all the cables you need so I guess that negates the online cost so knock it down to $500. The $300 360 is a complete joke and I don't consider it next gen at all.

Just to counter shawn here you don't have to buy any of that junk you listed (aside from the hard drive if you have a brain).  I did, but I don't regret it at all.  It's not half price but 200$ cheaper is still a lot.

Stop the presses; Shawn weighed in and it appears the core 360 is not, in fact, next gen.  Hey Shawn, I don't have a HDTV and plan on running any online through wires, so could any of the new systems be next gen for me? 
It's next gen because it plays next gen. games, if that doesn't define next gen for you, then enjoy your Blu-Ray player I guess, because game systems are certainly not something you like.

Could you be any dumber? I doubt it. The point is that if you buy a system without wireless controllers, w/o headset, w/o a hard drive, etc, etc..I would hardly call it "next gen".

I understand the arithmetic involved but I find it hard to believe there are idiots out there that buy the $300 version of the 360 especially when you get a ton of value for $100.

FYI, I own a 360 and love it. I would also love not to have to run wires from my office to my living room but I refuse to spend $100 on a wireless adapter so...for me the fact that the Wii and the PS3 is wireless is a huge plus. Also, you can't say the PS3 is $300 more then the stripped down version of the 360...it's apples and oranges.

There are no other games out right now that I plan on purchasing.  Good purchase?  Yes, but only because I had Best Buy gift cards coming out my ears.  Otherwise, heck no.

I will agree with some of your observations.  Resistance looks really good, but when you get up close to certain things (walls, dead enemies) the textures don't look that nice.  I think its the best looking FPS to date, but you can really only take that genre so far.  It does feature some nice explosions though.  I also really like the weapons in the game too. 

The part about the controller is something I have to disagree with.  Its wireless and practically weightless, and it feels nice n sturdy.  It feels just like a lighter version of the dual shock.  I also don't even notice that the rumble features are gone. 

I really don't know what you are talking about having to re-synch the controller everytime you turn on the PS3.  You must be doing something wrong, because my buddy and I never have this problem.  ALthough I did have the same problem with my Nintendo Wii.  Everytime I had two controllers synched to the machine they would both disconnect after shutting the console down.  I have since remedied this problem...It turns out I was only doing a temporary synch of the controller to the system.  I had to synch up the controller during the Wii menu instead of in-game.

Anywho, thanks for the report on the PS3...Wait for some more games to come out and you will probably be satisfied with it.
